On July 11th, I reported the murder of 5-year old Alysa Bobbitt. The man who murdered Alysa, 30-year old John Meyer, was using an assault rifle as a crutch that went off, shooting through the ceiling into the apartment where Alysa and her mom were visiting with a friend.
There were questions about who owned the gun and those questions were not answered when Meyer was arrested. Without going to trial, he agreed to a plea of manslaughter and was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months.
After Meyer was sentenced, the Daily Courier reported that federal authorities were investigating the background of the rifle. It was suspected that the assault rifle either malfunctioned or had been illegally tampered with. What was uncovered resulted in the arrest of 26 people, with 5 more being sought.
Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that the investigation uncovered a ring in southern Oregon that specialized in “straw” purchases of weapons. Straw purchases are buys designed to conceal the ultimate recipient. Some of the straw purchases were of guns used at crime scenes in California. Two murder plots were uncovered, and there are state and federal indictments for racketeering, attempted murder, assault and promoting prostitution.
Alysa is a heroine. Because she lived, others have been saved from the ring of evil.
I am also reminded of Charles Ramsey. He was the man who helped Amanda Berry and three others escape the captivity of Ariel Castro in Ohio. Because of that, law enforcement investigated the disappearance of two other women in the same area. One of Castro’s neighbors, 49-year-old Elias Acevedo, confessed to murder, kidnapping, and rape of Pamela Pemberton, 30, in 1994, and 18-year old Christina Adkins, who was pregnant when she disappeared in 1995.
It’s a shame that innocent life is taken or harmed by evil, but when it exposes and stops evil from being done to others, it gives us a glimmer of hope that those killed or harmed did not die in vain.

It is indeed sickening when so many of our fellow citizens are so addicted to power that owning and possessing guns give them that they turn a deaf ear and blind eye to all reports like this. I am starting to think that for many people having a gun in their possession is similar to a drug addict as they receive their fix… Is there a medical diagnosis of this illness on the books yet? Perhaps is we were to make it a mandatory life in prison with no chance of parole for people who make straw purchases this means of gun acquisition would dry up? If a person makes numerous gun purchases in a short time, would that not raise a red flag that something is going on? Of course with no control or record of who is buying guns, I suppose the gun owners are still winning the war on the innocent citizens of this nation…

Well, it is heartening that they would investigate a gun purchase. I have read and seen a 60 min. broadcast where people purchased guns in the parking lots of gun shows. No identification, just pay and go.

I do know for fact that semi-automatic weapons can’t just transform themselves into fully automatic weapons no matter how much wishful thinking any Gun Nut does.
So with that, I’m tickled that they did an investigation and made arrests. Since they like tinkering with metal so much I’d say maybe……oh……I guess…….about 20 years making license plates would do.

This is an example of how dangerous the SYG law is. It’s in an over 55 HOA where a neighbor took a gun out for his Sunday stroll because don’t all over 55 yr. olds need a gun on their Sunday stroll thru their gated community? He moved a sign of the mentally disabled man Instead of letting it wind it’s way thru court system, Shooter’s wife had to be hospitalized. Just taking care of business in Fl. Btw, it was white on white.

The neighbors probably were initially relieved the “problem” was solved but the dinner invitations probably slowed because you know, if you shoot your neighbor, whom granted was a problem, you may be a wacko yourself.

On June 27, 2013, Meyer and a group of people were passing around a machine gun while Alyssa was playing in a room on the 2nd floor of the apartment.When Meyer went to get out of his chair, he used the automatic weapon to keep balance and accidentally pulled the trigger.
Nine bullets went through the ceiling, one of them hit Alyssa in the back and killed her.

Yes, Shellie purchased the gun. George has a conceal carry, but the gun was owned by Shellie. There were two news reports that disagreed with each other. One said that George purchased 2 guns; 1 for himself and another for Shellie. The other said that Shellie purchased the gun that George was carrying and it was the only gun they owned.

Xena, I bet the feds will check into whether or not gz had ever purchased a gun in his own name before February 26, 2014.
It would be interesting to find out if the only gun he had access to was the one Shellie purchased. (And, if so, why he did not purchase one in his own name.)

Agnimel is being prosecuted at both the state and federal levels, and the list of charges against him is staggering. The dozens of counts include attempted murder; conspiracy to commit murder; assault; unlawful sale or delivery of a firearm; delivery of methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school; child neglect; endangering the welfare of a minor; conspiracy to falsify a firearms application; being an alien in possession of a firearm and other charges.
A federal indictment against Baines, Agnimel’s codefendant, alleges that Agnimel and Baines conspired to have Baines act as a “straw buyer” and purchase guns from local stores and pawn shops on several occasions between December 2013 and February 2014. She then allegedly turned over the weapons to Agnimel, who, at least in some cases, sold the guns to felons, according to federal prosecutors.
On the state level, eight other defendants have been indicted in connection with the Agnimel-Baines case: Steven Brooks, Kristina Freniere, Sara Garman, Vincent Johnson, Michael Guidotti, Mahwren Wear, Daniel Ziegler and Henry Arthur Carr. The defendants are accused of various crimes, and all but Carr and Baines have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
