Open Discussion – Inspiration

Each month Blackbutterfly7 will post something in honor of Bloggers for Peace. This is a bit early because it’s not February yet, but when is it ever a bad time to inspire?

I would like to present a person who is truly inspiring.

Nick 1Nicholas (Nick) James Vujicic was born on December 4, 1982 in Melbourne, Australia.  He was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs.  Born without arms and legs, Nick has one small foot with two toes.

At the age of 10, Nick tried to kill himself by drowning, but discovered that in spite of not having arms and legs, that he could swim.  At the age of 17, he started Life Without Limbs, a non-profit organization.

Nick 2Now a resident of California, Nick is a motivational speaker and among his work, he has spoken at over 600 high schools on the subject of bullying, and addressed over 3 million people in over 24 countries on 5 continents.

Nick speaks on attitude, saying that God can use any willing heart to do his work.  He starred in a short-film titled The Butterfly Circus(H/T to Crane-Station for introducing me to the film.)  Nick has written a book, produced DVDs, and also a song,

Happiness, faith, confidence, motivation, love, courage – all wrapped up in one person named Nick Vujicic.  One of my favorite quotes from Nick is, “If you don’t get a miracle, become one.”

The following video recaps Nick’s life.  The second video is The Butterfly Circus.  It’s around 20 minutes and in my opinion, the best 20 minute short-film you will ever see.  It’s a movie about overcoming and gaining strength through struggle; finding the good in others and transformation from within.

Here’s a blog that shares inspiration, hope and humor.  Coach Muller makes me smile.Smile

  5. Thank you, Xena, for sharing Nick’s story to us.

Nick, you liberate people! Without knowing it, people create visions and expectations and norms that cramp the spontaneity of their hearts….you open and free individuals to cross lines of self-created hesitancy to embrace you and the world.

You enable people to breathe in possibilities and the soulful life of reaching out and connecting to others!
