Thanks for this post. I heard that Guyer filed an appeal, but I did not know the appellate court’s decision. Thanks for informing us.

Regarding the release of the personal and private information of jurors who convicted Chavin’, there is absolutely no logical reason for the court to unseal that information. If any juror wanted to talk to the media, they would have reached out to them already.

You may remember the killing of a Black man, Botham Jean on September 6^th, 2018, but in case you’ve forgotten, allow me to refresh your memory.

Former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger Sentenced To 10 Years for the Murder of Botham Jean

On Sept. 6, 2018, Botham Jean was 26 years old when he was shot dead in his apartment by then Dallas police officer Amber Guyger.  Amber claimed that she thought she had gone to her own apartment and finding the door opened, that someone was inside.

Botham Jean was an accountant for Price Waterhouse, Coopers, an international auditing firm.  Testimony at trial included that he was eating ice cream in his apartment when Guyger opened the door.

On September 9, 2019, an arrest warrant for manslaughter was issued for Guyer.  According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Guyger told investigators that she parked on 4^th floor of the garage instead of the 3^rd floor.  When she put her key in the door of what she believed was her apartment, the door was ajar. She yelled at the purported burglar to show his hands, and then she fired twice.

A Dallas County grand jury indicted Guyger on November 30, 2018 on one count of murder.  Guyger plead not guilty.

The 31-year-old Guyger was fired from the Dallas Police Department days after the shooting. Her trial began on September 23, 2019.

At least nine people who were arrested by a Dallas police officer who was eventually accused of murdering a man in his own home have had their cases dismissed, according to a new report. The development could be damning for Amber Guyger, the now-former cop who was indicted for breaking into the home of Botham Shem Jean before shooting him to death.

All of the dismissed cases originated before Guyger killed Botham Jean, a 26-year-old native of St. Lucia who was simply home watching TV when the off-duty officer illegally entered and killed him under the implausible excuse that she thought he was burglarizing her own apartment. Citing court documents, the Dallas News reported that “Dallas County prosecutors in one case wrote that they were seeking the dismissal because the fired officer was ‘indicted for murdering an innocent man in his own home.’”

The Dallas Police Officer who shot and Killed Botham Jean, Officially fired By Dallas PD

Amber Guyger, the white woman Dallas, police officer who shot and killed 26-year Botham Jean, a seemingly law abiding citizen in his own apartment was officially fired by former police department.

After the shooting, Guyger, originally claimed that she some how confused, Mr.Jean’s apartment for her own, and claimed she shot him when he didn’t respond to her verbal commands.

According to some news outlets, some neighbors gave conflicting accounts to what they heard.

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall, reportedly fired Amber Guyger after an internal investigation was concluded and determined the former Dallas police officer “engaged in adverse conduct’.

She has reportedly been charged with manslaughter in the death of, Jean.

Botham Jean

That this was treated as an officer involved shooting shows favoritism and double-standard. She was off-duty and should have been immediately charged the same as any other private citizen who killed a person.

Botham Shem Jean (1991-2018) was an unarmed Black man killed in Dallas, Texas by an off-duty White police officer on September 6th 2018. The officer, Amber Guyger, entered his apartment and shot him dead. She says she thought it was her flat, that he was a burglar.

She says: She came home after working 15 hours and was still in uniform. When she tried to unlock the door it was partly open. She came in, saw a looming figure in the dark and gave “verbal commands”. When the figure did not obey, she shot two times. Only when she turned on the lights did she see that it was not her apartment. (The next-door neighbour did not hear any “verbal commands”.)
