Taking a Break – Open Discussion

Dear friends and visitors,

The time has arrived for me to take a break.  There’s Spring cleaning, and that includes the yards. There are also some doctor appointments coming up and a pending surgery.  I probably won’t write any new posts for the next two weeks.

The last two days have been pretty busy on my other blog.   The most recent post there is about living in peace with others who have different views or ideologies.  The discussion is interesting.  Because I moderate all comments for that blog,  I’ll check-in on both blogs for comments in moderation while I’m on a break from writing.

Feel free to post in the comment section anything that’s on your mind or any topic you want to discuss with each other.

Here’s something that will hopefully lift our spirit.

    • I keep getting re-dircted to my internet account when I try to click on the link. 😦 I hope you get some rest. You’ll have us all in your pocket as you go through this. You won’t be alone.

It’s not such a bad time, for me, for the internet to be out for a few days. My family will be making one very sad trip ‘home’ this weekend. Do take care and I’ll check in when I get back. XOXOXO

  8. Two former Gwinnett County officers, who were fired after video showed them hitting and kicking a man during a traffic stop, have been charged.

Both former officer Robert McDonald and Sgt. Mike Bongiovanni are charged with one misdemeanor charge of battery and one count each of violation of oath, which is a felony.

“We believe it’s important and the management of the police department believes it’s important that they move forward with the arrest warrant,” district attorney Danny Porter said.

“Rep. Cedric Richmond says he can’t get clarification on Alton Sterling report release”
    http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/04/alton_sterling_report_date.html

    Excerpt:

U.S. Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-New Orleans, said U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the U.S. Department of Justice are refusing to clarify whether the federal government will release the results of the civil rights investigation into the police shooting of Alton Sterling next week.

In an interview Friday (April 28), Richmond said he has made repeated requests over the past two days — including a personal phone call — to the Justice Department about whether the decision on the Sterling civil rights investigation will be released Tuesday.

So far, he said, he hasn’t been able to get a straight answer. He has only learned through local news reports that law enforcement officials believe the decision is coming next week.

“I think it is irresponsible to give certain elected officials and to give certain law enforcement organizations a heads up and to not be transparent with the community,” Richmond said. “You have to reassure the community that they have some sort of stake in this process.”

            Excerpt from article linked below:

SANFORD, Fla. — Prosecutors in the second-degree murder trial of George Zimmerman scrambled Tuesday to undo damage to their case by one of their leading witnesses, a Sanford police officer who interviewed the defendant hours after he fatally shot Trayvon Martin.

The witness, Officer Chris Serino of the Sanford police, had testified under cross-examination on Monday afternoon that Mr. Zimmerman seemed to be telling the truth when he said he had fired his gun in self-defense.The officer’s remarks made for a dramatic moment in the trial — and clearly benefited the defense for the day.

But early on Tuesday, citing case law, the prosecution successfully argued that Officer Serino’s comments about Mr. Zimmerman’s truthfulness should be disregarded by the jury. The judge then instructed the jurors, who are being sequestered during the trial, to ignore the officer’s statement — nearly 17 hours after he made it.

Juror B37 disobeyed the court’s order. She made that clear in her interview with Anderson Cooper.

Well, I think you know my position on Juror B37. Based on her AC360 interview, she sat through trial with biased ears because her mind was made-up when she arrived at the courthouse.
