“Skin Deep” Featuring Buddy Guy

I love music, and Blues is one of my favorite genres.  Buddy Guy is a known Chicago Blues artist.  Eric Clapton described Buddy Guy as “the best guitar player alive”.   Alive he is!  Born on July 30, 1936, Buddy is still going strong.  When I discovered he partnered with Playing For Change for his anthem “Skin Deep,” I was delighted.

The video includes over 50 musicians from coast to coast, including Chicago Children’s Choir, and Roots Gospel Voices of Mississippi.

“Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people.”

Hope you enjoy the song.

Taking a Break – Open Discussion

Dear friends and visitors,

The time has arrived for me to take a break.  There’s Spring cleaning, and that includes the yards. There are also some doctor appointments coming up and a pending surgery.  I probably won’t write any new posts for the next two weeks.

The last two days have been pretty busy on my other blog.   The most recent post there is about living in peace with others who have different views or ideologies.  The discussion is interesting.  Because I moderate all comments for that blog,  I’ll check-in on both blogs for comments in moderation while I’m on a break from writing.

Feel free to post in the comment section anything that’s on your mind or any topic you want to discuss with each other.

Here’s something that will hopefully lift our spirit.

Friday Re-Fill and Open Discussion

It’s been a long week.  Today in my area, it’s cloudy and rainy — not very encouraging for going out.  It’s the way I feel about the news also.  We get a glimmer of hope among the clouds, but the result might be sunshine, or rain, or sleet, or snow.

Today, I figure that others might also need a pick-me-up — a bit of encouragement, so here is Playing For Change’s “A Change Is Going To Come.”

Playing for Change – Freedom and Justice

“No matter who you are or where you come from, we are all united through music.”

The above are words from Playing for Change on their website.

Here’s their video and song of  A Better Place.

Stand By Me – Playing For Change

Playing For Change is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music.  I can’t get enough of this video.  They performed one song with artists from different countries around the world, and coordinated the video so that it sounds as if they were in the same room playing together.

Stand By Me – Open Discussion

Caterpillars, moths, butterflies and all creatures great and small,

Thanks to those who participate here, and all new visitors and subscribed followers. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I’ve found myself in a place of having little time to write, but I would like to share the following with you.

Ben_E_KingOne of my favorite singers, Ben E. King, has crossed over.

The song that he is famous for is “Stand By Me.”

I love the rendition that Playing for Change did with the song. They incorporated people around the world singing and playing it.

It gives me goose bumps.

Trust me, this song is a good way to begin your week.
