Happy Turkey Day
Thanksgiving Day is actually not a national holiday celebrating Pilgrims being taught about natural food in the new land by Native Americans. Most Americans have come to realize that it’s just one day in history that no longer applies to peaceful gatherings of people from different cultures sharing a meal.
Truly, I don’t know of anyone who goes to Native American reservations to share a meal with them on the fourth Thursday of November every year and give thanks to God for having wonderful, caring people feed them with food grown on their own land.
History books do not tell us when or how Pilgrims were overtaken by capitalists, changing how Native Americans were appreciated and treated with respect and the love of Christ by Pilgrims. I suppose that we are to forget the slaughter of Native Americans, the intentional implanting of disease, the slaughter of native animals to starve Native Americans, and the wars to take over their lands.
Americans make their own holiday traditions and they seldom line-up with the real reason for the holiday. That means, for me, that Thanksgiving is a family holiday because family members who work have the day off.
With that being said, I want to wish everyone a safe holiday.

Thanks Xena. Truth be told, the Thanksgiving holiday is no more or less meaningful to me than yesterday was, or tomorrow would be? Wasn’t always this way. A consequence, no doubt, of what happened when the sugarcoated myths were replaced by bitter truths. Perhaps we should rename ‘Thanksgiving’ to ‘Ungrateful Taking’. Then, to paraphrase John Stewart, we could simply do as the pilgrims did: Enjoy the graciousness of our hosts; then murder them and take their house. But, then, finding a host might prove to be somewhat difficult. Or even worse: I’d miss all the football games. Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

Xmatman,
I had not heard that by John Stewart. He spoke truth. What I think is that there’s a period of time missing from the history books. I would like to know how a group of people arrived seeking religious freedom ended up being overtaken by a group of capitalizes?
Football? What’s that? LOL! Oh, I know too well about the games, although I never took interest in the sport. Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

🙌🏻 I need to send this to my whole family. I’m sick of theses bogus holidays.

Hi Cooky! Happy to meet you. “Bogus” is a good description. The foundation of holidays are not based on the whole truth. Knowing the truth at least gives people the choice as to whether they want to celebrate in traditional fashion.

Our traditional gathering has become so diluted I’ve created my own immediate family gathering held between Thanks for Giving and Christmas. I have no desire to hang out with people whose political and religious beliefs conflict with my own.

Mindyme,
Sorry to hear about that, and I understand that after the latest presidential election, that has happened with many families.

Mindyme,
Same to you. I am surprised with the companies that are not giving employees today (Friday) off. They do not work in retail, medical, or emergency responders. If employees want the day after Thanksgiving off, they have to request to use a paid day off. That stinks.

Roderick,
I read a little about the Baltimore detective and think there is something fishy. It looked like more news was coming out by the hour, so I need to catch up.
Thanks for the link to the article about the attorney. I’ll read it shortly.
