A Huge Thank You, Changes, Embedding Videos From Youtube, and Open Discussion

Thanks to all followers new and old, and to visitors.

We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident is approaching its fifth anniversary.  I’m working on changing the top menu to make it more convenient to find posts based on topic.  Since we’ve reported on so many trials, I might change themes so the top menu will have a pull-down section to see the names of defendants and/or victims.  The same is true for the border, particularly for documents.   I do hesitate changing the theme because we’ve had the same theme since this blog opened in 2012.  Let me know what you think.

We are following the bench trial of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley who killed Anthony Lamar Smith in 2011. Stockley was charged last year.  The judge has ordered no electronic communication devices, nor cameras in the courtroom.

We have previously followed trials that were not live-streamed, but this is the first time in almost 5 years that I’ve experienced finding very little reported about a trial.   The news channels that post videos on their site are not posting the videos on Youtube so they can be shared.

That brings me to another subject ….

Not only on this blog, but also on others, I’ve noticed where Youtube videos are deleted or disabled on Youtube after they have been embedded on blogs.  Some Youtube channels that have existed for years, such as Sanford Watch, have been suspended.  It makes it a real mess when videos have been used to support the content of posts to see them here today, and gone tomorrow.

I apologize for not blogging more this week.  Working to redesign the top menu might prevent me from writing new posts soon, but I will look for posts to reblog.  As well, feel free to use this post for open discussion.

Thanks again and remember, like transforming from caterpillar to butterfly, strength comes through struggle.

Yes, but I have a good reason for hesitating. A blogger friend changed his theme once, and he called out to me to help him because he lost everything on his borders and all of the options he had under “Settings”. It took almost an hour to restore those things.

      • Yeah, I’ve switched themes a few times over the years since I started my first wordpress blog (iblogalot is actually my 3rd one), change-overs can be challenging. Go to Tools and Export everything into a file beforehand, just in case.

        • J.R. Thanks for that suggestion. I’ve exported previously for backup, but had not thought about that when changing themes that might not work out. I just spent the last 30 minutes looking for one with the widgets and features I’d like to have. Thanks again.
