Marissa Alexander Case Comes To A Close

In 2012, Marissa was convicted of three counts of aggravated assault. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Last year around this time, Marissa Alexander was released on bond and was home for Thanksgiving. Her conviction was overturned on appeal because of an error in jury instructions. Her new trial was scheduled to begin on December 1, 2014.
Since that time, Marissa’s lawyer has zealously fought for her. The Appellate Court ordered a new trial. She petitioned the court for, and was denied, another stand your ground immunity hearing.
Also since the Appellate Court ordered that Marissa get a new trial, the State of Florida passed legislation on consecutive minimum sentencing. State Attorney Angela Corey announced that at Marissa’s new trial, she would seek sentencing of 20 years for each count, meaning that if convicted, Marissa would be sentenced to at least 60 years in prison.
Today, Marissa agreed to a plea that ends the case that was filed against her 4 years ago. According to the plea, Marissa will serve 3 years in prison with credit for the 1,030 that she already spent in jail. She will serve the time in the Duval County jail rather than a prison and be released on January 27, 2015 with 2 years of house arrest on a monitor. She can leave the house to go to church, doctors’ appointments and work.

Roderick, maybe she is making amends and will be forgiven. When is Zimmerman’s Saturn return? Dr. Turi has said that Zimmerman has drug problems that will come to light eventually.

Saturn doesn’t cut deals.
Ironically transiting Saturn was exactly conjunct Zimmerman’s natal Saturn at the end of Zimmerman’s trial.
I don’t know how many times Saturn was conjunct his natal Sun, but it was his first Saturn Return which is when we’re supposed to grow up and take responsibility for our actions.
I will have to go back and find the exact date, but I noticed his body language that day and I thought he had finally understood the weight of having taken Trayvon’s life, but his actions since then has proven otherwise.
The fact that Zimmerman’s past which his family went to great lengths was exposed to the world was part of his karma even though he didn’t suffer any external punishment. It did serve as to force him to look at himself and get real. Whether he chose to accept responsibility was his decision.
Honestly, I believe that Zimmerman is truly mentally ill so it wouldn’t be realistic to expect him to be able to modify his behavior especially with all of the enablers in his life.

What I picked up of Zimmerman’s body language during his trial was that he went from sorrow based on fear, to actual fear, to anger, to glee seeing himself, (like when the portion of the Hannity interview was shown in court). At no time did I see any remorse. In fact, I think that if given the opportunity, Zimmerman would have dissected Trayvon to see his body parts. He took pleasure in his “kill.”

I’ve always thought that Xena, that Zimmerskin is using drugs. Especially the way he jumped out of the truck when the police found him behind the motorcycle/gun shop. I always took that as a sign he didn’t want them poking around in his truck

Oh — I forgot to tell you. Zimmerman started a blog in September and guess what he’s posted since then? Nothing. There are many people who start a blog and after the first post, might not post for months. However, they are not those who go out to publicize the opening of their blog like Zimmerman did in addition to paying the cost to have it self-hosted. That kind of behavior is questionable because, what else does he have to do?

I thought it was so wrong to add counts on from her original trial. While I don’t believe she was SYG, I’m glad that she was offered the original plea deal she turned down prior to her first trial. Hopefully she’ll receive some counseling.

While I would have preferred to see Marissa Alexander cleared of all charges in court,I do believe this is a decent as good as it gets compromise.I know Marissa wasn’t supported totally here,as you know I believe in equity.I always felt Marissa was being heavily prosecuted and heavily punished. So the fact that she will be out in January 2015 due to time served is fine with me. I believe if Marissa didn’t have a support group this wouldn’t happened.
