In spite of some subject matters that we write about, I always wear my emotions on my sleeve and it is a humbling honor to be recognized, even on my worst days, for keeping the hope of love and compassion alive. I have written about war and peace, I have written about gender equality. I have written about people living in violence. Today, I am writing to the world about yet another human tragedy. I don’t know how bad racism is everywhere in the world, but I feel it is getting worse in America. I am an old lady, but I have a black hoodie that says peace on the front. When I wear it, I wear it with the hood up. I wear it that way for Trayvon Martin.  I wear it because I realize that more people will look at it on the body of  a 5’2″ blonde white woman.  I wear it because my grandfather told me about the Holocaust when I was nine years old. Let’s Focus On Working For Positive Change

Caterpillars, moths, butterflies, and all creatures great and small,

I have read your comments. Our hearts are revealed. We are sick of hatred, wrongful judgment of people, victimization of the innocent, unequal justice, racism, stereotyping.

We have to worry when we go shopping that someone will shoot us for stepping on their foot and defend themselves by saying they were in fear.

We have to worry about people who don’t like texting, loud music, or seeing a person with Alzheimer’s in their front yard and because they have a gun, act on their dislike.

Terrorism on America’s soil is here – we now share in the trauma with those countries where suicide bombers walk the streets.
