Have you heard of 24-year-old John Hernandez? What about Harris County Deputy Sheriff Chauna Thompson?
John Hernandez was at a Denny’s restaurant on May 28, 2017 in a town not far from Houston. Wait staff said he was celebrating his soccer team winning and was drunk, but he was not behaving belligerently. Chauna Thompson was off-duty and had just left Denny’s with her husband, Terry Thompson, when John Hernandez came outside the restaurant and urinated while standing close to the Thompson’s vehicle.
Terry beat John who landed on the ground and then Terry proceeded to place John in a choke hold and got on John’s back. Chauna, pinned down one of John’s arms. His other armed was underneath him. On her knees, Chauna yelled at Hernandez to “stay the f— down.” Her husband said to Hernandez: “Do you want me to hit you again?”
John’s wife and daughter were inside of the restaurant as the confrontation was happening. Hearing the commotion, they rushed outside.
Melissa Trammell, a Denny’s employee, said she was standing next to John’s daughter and begged Terry Thompson to let go of John Hernandez. Hernandez “was kicking for his life, struggling. At first I thought it was legitimate,” Trammell told reporters after testifying before the grand jury. “He was just going to hold him down, whatever. When I seen the man turning purple, there was no letup. And [Thompson] looked me in my face and told me he’s not getting off him.”
After paramedics arrived, John Hernandez was rushed to the hospital. Some witnesses say that it took paramedics 40 minutes to arrive. John was brain dead, went into a coma and died three days later.
A by-stander filmed the incident. He retained an attorney before turning the video over to the Sheriff’s office. Read the rest of this entry
I can’t help but question — if they are pro-cop, then why weren’t they carrying signs with the names of those cops killed, regardless of the race of the killer? I think that one officer out of New Mexico was buried this weekend.
Armed with assault rifles, confederate flags and white supremacist slogans, a group of the extreme fascist right-wing calling itself ‘white lives matter’ stood on the grounds of the Houston Chapter of the historic civil rights organization – the N.A.A.C.P. – to sing the praises of police officers who’ve killed unarmed Black people and decry activists who’ve spoken out against police abuse. They claimed to be exercising their “second amendment right to defend ourselves”, despite their going into the overwhelmingly black third ward to spread their toxic agenda.
Perhaps not surprisingly these white supremacists with their stated pro-cop agenda were barricaded and protected by police officers. It goes without saying that the response to this demonstration on the part of police was completely different from their response to Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Imagine for a moment organizers of a #BLM march carrying assault rifles and wearing bullet proof vests! You can’t imagine it…

Caterpillars, moths, butterflies, and all creatures great and small,
I have to take a break and hope to be back blogging by the beginning of next week. Although I’ll be checking in at least once a day, I don’t plan on writing a post. Along with medical lab tests, I have to find a dentist because a filling just came out and I want to have it taken care of before the nerve reminds me of its existence.
Here’s a shout-out and hugs to new subscribed followers and participants. Thanks so much for your support.
New Blog launched in July 2015.

The reason for the blog title is on the “About” page. I began documenting the history and have also reblogged at least one very good article on the study of internet trolls. I would appreciate your reading and input.

This past week in Houston, Texas a white police officer, Darren Goforth, was fatally shot and killed by a black man with a lengthy and violent criminal history. It was a horrendous crime. Thankfully, the alleged perpetrator, Shannon Miles, has already been arrested.
Typically, people who harm police officers don’t make it far before they are caught and either charged or killed. This case was no different.
What was different, and extremely disturbing, was when Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman attempted to draw a ridiculous connection between the peaceful Black Lives Matter movement and the murder of this officer.
The two have absolutely nothing to do with one another.
Both the official Black Lives Matter organization, its representatives, and its loosely connected friends and partners actually have real agendas, real goals, real plans, and none…

Stripped of Dignity
Deadra Pattum picked up a pair of $3.00 earrings in Y Beauty Supply in Houston, Texas. Deciding not to purchase them, she placed them back on the counter. Surveillance footage confirmed that Pattum put the earrings back on the counter, but by the time that the security guard watched the video, Pattum and her fiancé John Marsden, were already violated. The store’s owner allegedly said “You people always steal.”
Intimidated and nervous, Marsden removed his socks, shoes and pants.
The security guard said “She never left the counter with those earrings in her hand. There was no evidence of shoplifting.”
Pattum and Marsden are now pushing to have the store’s owners charged with unlawful search. “Everybody doesn’t shoplift. Everybody is not a thief. There are still honest people in the world” stated Pattum.
Quanell X, an activist fighting racial profiling, gave a statement saying, “This was a classic case of racial profiling in its most humiliating form. And something needs to be done about this.”
The owners of the store have declined to comment on the racial profiling charges, only saying that shoplifting costs their store a lot of money.
What’s the wholesale price for earrings that retail for $3.00?
