A Racerrodig Thanksgiving
A Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone. The following is a reblog from last year. I won’t have much time for blogging until after the holiday. Please be safe, enjoy yourself and the love of your family and friends, and whatever path you walk, I hope you enjoy Racer’s songs.
Racerrodig is a precious, consistent supporter of Blackbutterfly7. I call him “Racer.” Through the years, he has shared his profound wisdom and great humor with us. Racer has often spoken about playing music, and several months ago he informed us that he started a praise and worship band with his son. They have been invited to perform in other countries.
Racer entrusted me with three of his band’s original songs to see if I could present them in a format so others can listen to them. So, I put them on video. The first video has some glitches, and I ask that you don’t allow that to distract from the beauty and talent of Racer’s song.
It wasn’t feeling like Thanksgiving to me this year. With so much trouble in America, I had gotten down. Racer’s songs picked me up and I hope they do the same for you. As well, it is such a pleasure to hear his voice. Read the rest of this entry
Soaring Sunday
Thanks to a special friend for the title of this post.
Thanks to all new subscribed followers and visitors. Feel free to join us in discussion.
People who are passionate in advocating for equality for all need to refuel from time to time. I’m going to make it an effort to post an encouraging or uplifting song every Sunday so we begin our week with renewed strength and hope. The song might be secular, or faith-based, or humorous.
I hope that you enjoy the following.
Open Discussion – June 12, 2015
Caterpillars, moths, butterflies, and all creatures great and small,
It’s been a busy week.
The pool party in McKinney, Texas resulted in constant headlines including the resignation of officer Casebolt and the employment termination or suspension of several people who were either involved in the originating physical altercation, or who made bigoted racial statements on social media.
Regarding the death of 12-year old Tamir Rice, in response to citizens’ affidavit, a judge has decided there is probable cause to charge Cleveland police officer Timothy Loehmann with murder, manslaughter, reckless homicide and negligent homicide. Judge Adrine also found there is probable cause to charge Cleveland police officer Frank Garmback with negligent homicide.
Some are reporting this as actual charges, but they are not. They are probable cause findings. The State’s Attorney has stated that he is taking the evidence before a grand jury to decide whether to charge the two officers. You can read the judge’s decision here.
This week, three more people have been killed by members of law enforcement, one being a homeless man in Overtown, Florida, in front of dozens of witnesses including children. Read the rest of this entry
Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light.
I read this and it caught my breath.
Butterflydreamer’s Beach Vacation
You might have read that our precious friend, Butterflydreamer2, has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition. She is scheduled to start treatment in just a few days. Butterflydreamer shared that she longed to go to the beach before starting her treatment — and she did!
She sent some photos of her vacation and wants to share them with us. Thank you so much Butterflydreamer! Here’s wishing you the best! Read the rest of this entry
Encouragement For Our Dear Friend
Today, I was going to blog about the officer indicted for killing Akai Gurley. Months ago, I started a project to report on employment cases filed in federal courts. I was going to spend some time on that today.
That has now changed.
A dear friend and supporter of this blog needs lifting up. Butterflydreamer2 has shared what is happening with her medically. Right now, nothing else matters. She is close to us in spirit and mind, and I want the best for her.
Like caterpillars going through transformation, she is cocooned in a situation. We cannot let her feel that she is alone. We can’t go through the struggle for her, but we can be with her every step of the way. She has endured and broken free from the cocoons that face us in life, and she has gathered strength in her wings. We look forward that she does that again.
Someone once said, ““Just when the caterpillar thought “I am incapable of moving, it became a butterfly.”
A Special Weekend – Happy Place Open Discussion
Caterpillars, moths, butterflies, and all creatures great and small,
Several months ago, Kindheart101 recommended a “Happy Place” thread where people could share something about their experiences or a video that brings a smile.
This is a special weekend for me with family and friends. I probably won’t have time to write any new posts which makes it perfect for you guys to participate in conversation sharing kindness and what makes you happy. Even if you’re down in the dumps, be happy to share it here.
I’ll start with this video of a humorous song by Irene Reid.
Staying the Course
I have built a fence of gold for righteousness, and given it a gate of silver for judgment.
Passing through it judges the heart and mind to do what is right.
Within the fence is a house built of love.
It is for the protection of hearts and minds so that cruelty does not plant seeds.
It is a place of rest for the weary.

Sunday Songs To Cure Weekday Blues
The things happening on our planet can be overbearing. As individuals, we can make positive changes in our environment and in relationships, but find it difficult making changes when problems are caused by a system intended to bring about negativity, death to humans, animals, and our planet.
Let’s turn lemons into lemonade and fill ourselves up with the positive belief that we can make our world a better place.
For our encouragement, here are some songs. I hope that you enjoy them. Read the rest of this entry
About Mike Brown
By Kindheart 101
I do not mean to cause alarm,
it’s only me, I mean no harm.
Why do you look at me that way?
is color all you see today?
Yes I am brown, that’s all you see?
please look beyond, and just see me.
Let down your guard, I mean no harm.
I do not mean to cause alarm.
I hold my loved ones dear, and true,
and love my family, just like you.
I’m off to college, on my way,
I graduated yesterday.
Oh wait, you stopped your car I see,
and now you’ve grabbed a hold of me?
I turn and run, as bullets fly,
I’m hit, I turn around and cry…….
OK OK OK, I’m done,
hands in the air………put down your gun!
I do not mean to cause alarm,
I’m Big Mike Brown, I mean no harm.
That didn’t mean a thing to you,
you didn’t stop till you were through.
I hit my knees, fell to the ground,
and never heard another sound.
And then a hand reached out to me,
and picked me up so I could see.
The glory, friendship and pure love,
that’s shown by all those up above………..
Thank you for greeting me, Trayvon.
Mike Brown
This Morning …
In spite of it all, in the midst of all those things we
would like to see changed, this morning …
A Lesson From Nature
Very uplifting!

Throughout our lives, we all have opportunities to learn life lessons from many, many things. Everyone of us experience hardships and difficult times but the key is what we learn and how we handle these situations. A foolish person will dwell on the negative experience, may become depressed and suffer bouts of anxiety, sickness or other kinds of physical distress. A wise individual will take the awful circumstance, learn from it, and become a better person because of it.
Today’s little “story” demonstrates a wonderful lesson that we can all learn from some animals that you may never have thought of before. I hope that you can use this little “nugget of truth” the next time you go through a difficult time of your life (or if you are struggling through a tough time in your life right now).

Friday Fill-Up – May 16th
We who care can sometimes be drained of energy.
For those who cry about the loss of children gone to soon;
For those who have a loved one who has gone ahead;
For those who look forward to a future of hope and peace for the next generation;
For those who work and live paycheck to paycheck;
For those who are ill;
THERE IS STRENGTH THROUGH STRUGGLE
A Dish of Ice Cream
https://goodtimestories.wordpress.com/ has the most delightful stories.
In the midst of so much happening to have us concerned and active in advocating either for or against, a “good time story” is what we need.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
“How much is an ice cream sundae?”
“50 cents,” replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied a number of coins in it.
“How much is a dish of plain ice cream?” he inquired. Some people were now waiting for a table and the waitress was a bit impatient.
“35 cents,” she said brusquely.
The little boy again counted the coins. “I’ll have the plain ice cream,” he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and departed.
When the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table…
