The United States Has A New President

Today, Joseph R. Biden Jr. was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.  Kamala D. Harris was sworn in as Vice President of the United States.  There are many things to be proud of with this administration.   When watching the swearing-in, I first sighed.  It was a sigh of relief.  No longer will Americans hear outright lies from the President of the United States, such as Covid-19 being no worst than a bad cold or the flu.

After I sighed, I cried, overwhelmed with a sense of relief, of honor, and a renewal in hope for our nation.

Congratulations Mr. President and Madame Vice President.

  1. I can’t imagine what the last four years were like. Biden, Harris return to decency

  2. My reactions were much the same as yours, my friend. Not joy, but a quiet sense of hope, of relief, and yes, tears, also of relief and hope and … the culmination of four years of hell finally coming to an end. There will be times we don’t agree with President Biden, but I think that even in those times, we will know he is doing what he believes is best for the nation, its people, and the world. Not once in the past four years did I think Trump had anything other than his own self-interest in mind. Here’s to a brighter future! 🥂

    • Jill,
I agree. Trump is only for Trump. He has a murderous spirit, is vindictive, and a huge liar. I was happy to see him fly away.

      • Over the past four years, I have gone from thinking of him as a narcissist and megalomaniac, to thinking of him as the most evil human on the face of the earth. Yes, let him fly away with the evil monkeys, never to be seen again!

        • Jill,
Did you hear the news yesterday how Trump was scheming on getting the DOJ to twist arms in Georgia to have them say there was voter fraud? No wonder that tape of him strong arming the Secretary of State in Georgia was released. And, I hear that Qanon folks saw their “prophecy” fail and are disappointed thinking that maybe Trump isn’t their savior. Things are really going down-hill for him.

          • Yes, I did and I was incensed! What arrogance to think that he had the absolute right to award himself an election that he LOST! Sigh. I heard a commentator today say that Trump’s brand was ‘winning’ and since he lost bigtime, many of his fans, such as the Proud Boys and QAnon were pulling away from him, feeling betrayed. Awwwww … isn’t that sad. 🤣 My hope is that most of his base find one reason or another to be disillusioned with him so that he never stands a chance to get back into any public office and wreak more havoc.

  3. I’m just so fucking relieved and I had an incredibly bad day – which is what happens when stress is gone after long extended periods of ill gotten time or worse brainwashing 1/2 the country – or just slightly less. In half a day 15 pieces of legislation/ mandates got done from rejoining the WHO and Paris accord, to reshuffling billions from the wall to the Covid vaccine, to insuring people don’t lose their housing and don’t starve but wear a mask.

Joe has class. Joe has Harris and Buttigieg already breaking the walls that contained us from public service. He may be old, he may be white, he may be male but he may be the person who in the speed of sound will send out the message they refused to take seriously which is the health and welfare of our citizens and those who believe we have a better place to raise their children than they currently do.

    • Two sides,
Not only can we sleep, we can turn on the news and not have to shake our heads at the lies coming from Trump and his administration.

        • Shira,
I wish that I knew of someone. In years past there were several others who wrote posts for this blog as Contributors, and others who guest blogged. Jobs, family, and care taking for ill family members caused them to no longer write. One I terminated and another left because of situations involving that termination. But, if I do run into anyone, I’ll tell them about your blog.

          • Sorry to hear you had problems with the writers. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me. I know my blog is not as polished as it could be, but I think the seed ideas are there for an alliance of blogs that work for what yours and mine work toward?

          • Check out my blog. I have got the gift of gab as it were. I mean one must if one is to ostensibly self publish for over five years. I do require some editing but I do guest blog for non profits and other bloggers. Happy to help I have a fairly busy readership and 25,000+ individual visitors to my blog at https://cancerbus.com/

Always happy to pitch in – and a friend of Xena’s is a friend to me.
