Stan Lee, Creator of Marvel Super Heroes, Dead at 95

This breaks my heart.  The day that I received my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer in September, I remember wondering if I would live long enough to see the sequel to Avenger’s Infinity War that is scheduled for release in May 2019.  That is how much of a fan I am of Stan Lee and the actors in his movies.

Per TMZ ;

Stan Lee, the man responsible for much of the Marvel Universe, has died … Stan’s daughter tells TMZ.

We’re told an ambulance rushed to Lee’s Hollywood Hills home early Monday morning and he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. We’re told that’s where he died.

Lee had suffered several illnesses over the last year or so — he had a bout of pneumonia and vision issues.

Stan started Marvel with Jack Kirby in 1961 with The Fantastic Four. He went on to create Spider-Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers.

Stan made cameo appearances in all of the Marvel movies.

Lee had a rocky relationship with Marvel once the company went full-tilt Hollywood. He sued the company in 2002 for royalties he said he was owed for the first “Spider-Man” movie. Three years later he settled the case for $10 million.

“Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” is the latest installment of the film’s franchise and will be released next month.

Lee is survived by his daughter, J.C. His wife of 69 years, Joan, died in 2017.

There’s a saying that when men have been married a long time and their wife dies first, that it’s not long before they die.  I’ve known that to happen to two friends.   May Stan and Joan both rest in peace.

    • Butterflydreamer2!!!!! So good to see you.

Because of the type of cancer cells, there are two targeted drugs and I’m receiving both. However, because of complications caused by the first chemo, I cannot take any pain medication. 😦

        • Angela,
You and your words are precious. Chemo this week resulted in hives, but the steroids for the hives actually helped my left hand which is much better today. My nurse navigator is at a conference, so all of the appointments and tests to be scheduled for the rest of this month were on me this week. I was on the phone today from around 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. back and forth with scheduling and re-scheduling. Exhausted is not a strong enough word. (((((Hugs)))))

          • Hi Xena, my apology for the delayed response. It’s interesting that steroids made the hand swelling better. Oh, I dread making calls especially to schedule or re-schedule anything. Take it easy! Hope the nurse navigator is back from her conference to help. Hugs and prayers. Know that many care about you.

No apology needed. I was feeling so bad yesterday I was unable to come online. Thanks for your words of encouragement.

  6. I’m very sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I look forward to the day when we have a cure and all sickness is a thing of the past (Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:3,4). Sending many well wishes for full remission.

    • Heather,
Thanks for your comment and kind words. Yes — I too look forward to the day when we have a cure. I’m coming to believe that as long as big money is involved to pharmaceutical companies, we will not have affordable, natural cures. One company has used the yew plant and developed a poisonous chemo drug rather that developing it for use that doesn’t cost thousands of dollars a treatment.

      • I worked at a cancer hospital for years and big pharma is one of the biggest obstacles to finding a cure. It sickens me to see these company CEOs value money over actual lives. I do believe that their wickedness will be punished (Psalms 37:10,11). In the meantime, stay strong and keep fighting. Although I don’t know you personally, I’m more than happy to share an encouraging word and support whenever needed.
