Some Civil War Reading for those Who Dare Question Trump, Kelly, and Sanders

Padre Steve, you are a living encyclopedia. Thanks so much for the history.

The Inglorius Padre Steve's World

Friends of Padre Steve’s World,

I am still appalled at the remarks made by President Trump’s Chief of Staff on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News propaganda broadcast the other night. In my view a man whose military career was marked by honorable service has destroyed his reputation over the past month in defending the indefensible words and actions of President Trump. In doing that he also went to where no knowledgeable person should go in his remarks about the Civil War and the traitorous Confederate General Robert E. Lee. According to Kelly the war was simply due to an inability to compromise, disregarding decades of compromise by slavery opponents beginning with the 3/5ths rule which allowed Slave States which had far fewer white citizens than Free States to count their slaves as 3/5ths of a person to increase their representation in the House of Representatives and many other compromises, all of…

  2. And BTW, as I commented to Padre Steve with your blog title, “We Hold These Truths to be Self Evident” that all men are created equal….I started to tear up. How could our country have regressed so stupidly and so horribly?

  6. Dear Xena,

This post has created a few new followers for Padre Steve including me. I did tweet his blog to General Kelly.

He has been spreading lies about Rep. Frederica Wilson and the Civil War. Facts do matter. I can’t help but think that General Kelly is a closet racist.

Padre Steve slays the general with his words.

    Hugs, Gronda

    • Gronda,
General Kelly no doubt doesn’t realize how he judges others. There are times when ideologies are so embedded that they are a part of the fabric that makes the person what they are. They don’t recognize the threads. They are unable to see others differently or be respectful to them because of those bigotries.

    Two things:

    1. The same people that are defending murderers and traitors to this country like Robert E Lee, Jefferson Davis, Ben Tillman, PT Beauregard are the ones that exhibit hatred towards black peacefully protesting NFL players. Call them SOBs, anti American degenerates, they’re dividing the country.

    2. The biggest supporters of the Democratic Confederacy are GOP Conservatives.

You bring up an important point about the Democratic Confederacy. For several months now I’ve contemplated writing about the transformation of the Democratic South into Republican and vis-versa. Prior to and during the Civil War, Republicans were the progressives. The change happened during the presidential election involving JFK and Nixon. It was also another time during our history when the issue that led to those changes involved civil rights.

The Republican party we have had since the 60’s is not the Republican party before then. The same is true for the Democrats. Minorities ran to the Democratic Party in the 60’s, and few understand now that there are still pockets in former slave states where local, county and state elections run Democratic candidates that hold unto the old issues and ideologies. State Attorney Bob McCulloch of St. Louis is one example. He’s a Democrat and ran his office for the oppression of the poor, mainly Black citizens in his jurisdiction.

You’re correct. However, if you go to certain conservative sites, they’ll tell you the parties are the same. The dems are the same . The repubs are the same.
This is why whenever the confederacy issue comes up I ask 2 questions:

        1. Are you a GOP Conservative?
        2. If you’re a GOP Conservative, why are you defending the Democratic Confederacy?
