Other People Do Not Define You
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
FORGIVE THEM ANYWAY.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish motives.
BE KIND ANYWAY.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
SUCCEED ANYWAY.
If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you.
BE HONEST AND SINCERE ANYWAY.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight.
BUILD ANYWAY.
If you find serenity and happiness, some people may be jealous.
BE HAPPY ANYWAY.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow.
DO GOOD ANYWAY.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.
GIVE THEM YOUR BEST ANYWAY.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God;
IT NEVER WAS BETWEEN YOU AND THEM ANYWAY.

TY for posting that…….having never seen it, it reads like my chosen path in life…….

Bill, you are most welcomed. Having that path means that others will wrongfully accuse your motives and some will go so far as to engage in agendas of destruction. It means that you are on the right path. Be encouraged.

Profound wisdom. I have read some of Mother Teresa’s writing. This one is new for me. Thanks so much for posting it, Xena.
I love how Mother Teresa concludes with this beautiful gem:

I should have read this before getting a little upset with a customer service person who was not very helpful.

Hi Lulu! Is it something in the water? I heard from another person today that they got upset trying to get help from customer service.
When I call for customer service, I’m usually upset before I talk to an actual person. The robot menu that you have to listen to in order to press the correct number for the issue you’re calling about, then you might get cut-off and have to start over again.

Life is too short to waste it trying to get to a real person.

Grrr, and I hate telephones to begin with, and then you get to talk to someone that really does not want to be there to solve your problem…. I often wonder why they call it “customer” service, as it seldom is!

I remember when I was eleven our class being given the assignment to memorize the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling.

Mz. Xena, While I wish that it would be possible for me to state that I follow the rules/advice given in the article, I must confess that I am human and far too often stumble and fall! I do my best but seldom is it good enough! I’ll just simply hang my head in shame…. knowing that perfection will never fit into my shoes!

Moth,
Take that thought that no one’s perfect, and apply it to the black font print in the post instead of the blue font. Seeing that those who judge and treat others unfairly are not perfect makes it easier to disregard their opinions of you.

It seems the harder I try for perfection the less perfect I become. I will however continue to attempt to do the best that I can with what I was given to work with! My grand pa used to tell me that what ever you do try to be best at it as possible, so with that in mind I am as good for nothing as anyone could possibly be!! 😉

Dear Xena,
In this day and age, when civil discourse and good manners are becoming less than the norm, her words are more important than ever. Don’t let this world define you. TY for reminding us of Mother Teresa’s words..
