Once again skin color determines guilt or innocence! The current political climate is a direct result (and cause) of the fight for equality for all citizens. There are still enough people that are fearful of losing their “white rights” that control of the political scene is still possible! The current administration is living proof that racial hatred is still strong and alive in this nation…

I’ve asked a dozen times what folks are so afraid of. What’s the worst case scenario should everyone have equality? I’ve never received an answer

Mindyme,
That question can be answered in different ways.
There are people who are afraid of people with authority. That fear triples when those in authority have badges and guns. The juror who did the interview spoke about the Blue Line. People know that if they are called to sit on a jury when the defendant is a member of law enforcement, that their names, addresses, information about their employer or employment, and other identifying information is documented. What’s to keep them safe against the Blue Line if finding an officer guilty? Will they be followed and stopped daily? What about their family members?
Regarding the question about equality, there is a theory that providing a group of people with equal rights means taking rights from another group. That was one of the great misconceptions of 2008 in the presidential election. Just to think that if a Black man was leading our country, that Blacks everywhere would start telling Whites what to do! “Lift that bale. Tow that barge.” And, they would have to obey, not because instructor is their boss, but because of the color of their skin.
This country’s history has made it a mess. It is only by one-on-one communications and relationships with diverse people that we make a change for the better.
