Attorney General Jeff Sessions has brought sweeping change to the Department of Justice.

In just two months as the nation’s top cop, Sessions has moved quickly to overhaul the policies and priorities set by the Obama administration.

He has rolled back protections for transgender students that allowed children to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity and rescinded plans to phase out the federal government’s use of private prisons.

He called for a review of reform agreements, known as consent decrees, reached with local police departments to address allegations of misconduct. Many of the consent decrees were drafted in response to fating shootings by police.

Sessions has made immigration enforcement a top priority. Late last month he put “sanctuary” cities on notice, announcing that grant money would be withheld from state and local governments that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities and…

      David,
      Not just race relations, but the opportunity to file and pursue constitutional civil rights violations. That too has me concerned. Another concern is the privatization of prisons which requires quotas. I hurt, and I pray for our country.

    With his past history of racial bias, could anyone actually be surprised that Sessions would continue to be a racist in his current role? Once again, the Nov. election was nothing except a huge step back for equality for all people in this nation! Will our nation survive this assault upon the core values as envisioned by the founding fathers, or will we fall based on the bias of the minority that have seized control of our nation?

      I pray that social justice and racial equality will prevail no matter what roadblocks or gimmicks are put in the way by biased individuals in positions of power.

        Mz. Yahtzee, If it were just people in power that were biased it would not be as difficult to overcome. However the people in power were selected by a large and vocal portion of our society whose members are not just those who have been outwardly biased for a long time, but also by those members of our society that have enjoyed the rewards of this nation due to the color of their skin for many years. I guess it comes down to the old glass half full or half empty opinion on the status of our nation. I will readily admit that at this point in time that it is very difficult to look at the glass and not see that a large portion of it is gone…

      I would hope that we survive based on individuals doing the right things towards their fellow man. But as John Lennon once said, “You might say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.”

        Xena, It is difficult to dream as the wolves of hate have surrounded the wagons of hope and are munching upon your toes! Perhaps a nightmare of disgust is more easily to envision at this time? I have not given up hope, just not willing to bet the farm as of this point about the survival of this nation..

          In spite of my hopes, I do live in reality. LOL! Voters have little hope at the election booths, choosing the lesser of two evils. Or, like in local politics where I live, many candidates run unopposed. Several times now I’ve had the experience of having my ballot rejected when first slid into the machine, with a worker telling me I might have missed some selections. I always say no — I don’t vote for those running unopposed. They can vote for themselves and win.

          We need candidates that have our best interests at heart, and experience to know what to do and how to do it. But, I’m afraid that’s close to impossible given that money does all the talking.

    Jeff Sessions is of the alt-right ilk. The only way to stop him will be via legislation, the courtrooms and garnering media attention whenever wrongs are committed.We of the resistance do our part in swaying peoples to stand up for what is right.

    I AM ONE OF THOSE THAT TRULY BELIEVE THAT “WE THE PEOPLE” HAVE POWER BUT WE WILL HAVE TO FIGHT TO EXERCISE AND TAKE BACK THIS POWER THAT HAS BEEN DIMINISHED BY SPECIAL INTERESTS and big monies.
