Trump Wins and I Say Goodbye for Now

Padre Steve, you sound like a man with a plan. Blessings to you and please keep us posted.

Padre Steve's World...Musings of a Progressive Realist in Wonderland

Friends of Padre Steve’s World,

The unimaginable has happened. Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States. Since I have already received death threats for his White Supremacist supports going back to 2010 I realize that there is no place left for me in this country.

Beginning today I will be preparing to retire from the Navy as I can no longer in good conscience say that I can obey the orders of a man who has said that he would order American military personnel to commit war crimes, nor could I obey a Commander in Chief who has already promised to roll back the civil rights of anyone who disagrees with him. As such I will not allow myself to become a willing conspirator to crush the civil rights of millions of people just to keep my job. As a historian as well as someone who…

  3. Let’s take this country back to how it used to be, when it was great he says… Burning tires around innocent people, tar and feathering, lynchings, sayings such as “A good Indian is a dead Indian.” Women and children were meant to be seen not heard… Farther? Old women being drowned for being a witch? My God! First let’s round up the newest scapegoats… Build walls around neighborhoods. Signs saying, “Mexicans not welcome here!” People think I’m going too far… Have you seen some of his willing participants in his rallies?

The struggle for social justice and equality continues. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

There’s a voice, within me saying,
    Carry on, carry it on…
When you can’t go on any longer,
Take the hand, hand of your brother…
    Carry on, carry it on.
Carry it on, carry it on.

To Steve I respect your views, I hope your future endeavors go well. To all others . Donald Trump pulled it off. We just have to be vigilant and combat all negative matters people that come our way. We must continue to point out and combat racism, police criminality and all other ills.

Now I’ll say this. As much as I dislike Breitbart,I’ll give them this. They were for Trump from the beginning. A lot of Republican/right wing sites people were hypocrites. Claim Trump was a fraud, wasn’t a true conservative, not a real republican, etc. Some like L Brent Bozell even wrote an open letter to conservatives saying withdraw your support for Trump. All the time defending him against the liberal/democratic establishment. Now they all celebrating as if they didn’t say bad things about Trump. That’s why I give Breitbart their due, even at the expense of their own employees they were for Trump. So they have their moment now. At some point we’ll have ours. We just don’t give up.

Excerpt from article linked in above tweet:

“With a unified Republican government in Washington, D.C., and an open seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, the usual checks on a new president’s power are absent. What can be done? In the face of a leader whose rhetoric is authoritarian, it is more important than ever to stand up and protect our constitutional rights. Being tuned into news about politics and policy is more vital than ever.”

UC Berkeley to the student body:

“We know that the results of yesterday’s election have sparked fear and concern among many in our community; in particular our immigrant and undocumented communities, Muslim, African American, Chicanx/Latinx, LGBTQ+, Asian and Pacific Islander communities, survivors of sexual assault, people with disabilities, women and many others. We are reaching out to you with a message of support.

“UC Berkeley leadership remains steadfast in our values and committed to the safety and well-being of all of our students, faculty and staff. 13. Dear Xena, Steve Padre and Friends,

I rarely ask folks to read my latest 2 blogs but in this case, I really do need feedback. Here is the link: :https://grondamorin.com. The posts are, “ALERT: There Is No Way Donald Trump Won The Hispanic Vote By 29%,” and “Why So Many Americans Voted for Donald Trump According To Michael Moore.

We do not need anti-DT voters to lose heart. We can cave in or we can stand up and deal with the reality of the hand we’ve been dealt.

    Hugs, Gronda

    Excerpt:

A history teacher at Mountain View High School has been placed on paid leave after drawing parallels between Republican President-elect Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler in his lesson plan.

Frank Navarro, who’s taught at the school for 40 years, was asked to leave midday Thursday after a parent sent an email to the school expressing concerns about statements Navarro made in class. Mountain View/Los Altos High School District Superintendent Jeff Harding confirmed the incident Friday but declined to describe the parent’s complaints.

Navarro, an expert on the Holocaust, said school officials declined to read him the email and also declined his request to review the lesson plan with him…

The 65-year-old was named a Mandel Fellow for the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1997 and has studied at the International Center for the Study of the Holocaust in Jerusalem. Hitler’s persecution of Jews and rise to power has “remarkable parallels” to Trump’s comments on Latinos, Blacks and Muslims in his own bid for power, he said.

“I said (to school officials), ‘I’m not pulling these facts out of my hat. It’s based on experience and work and if I’m wrong, show we where I’m wrong.’ And there was silence,” he said.
