To recap, Phillip Seidle was a 22 year veteran of New Jersey’s Neptune Township Police department.  On June 16, 2015,  he chased his ex-wife as she was driving.  The couple has 9 children ranging from ages 7 to 24, but the  7-year old daughter was the only child in the car with Phillip. He rammed his wife’s car causing her to crash into another vehicle.

Phillip Seidle got out of his car, drew his 40 caliber Glock service pistol, and fired several shots into the side of his ex-wife’s car.  He then positioned himself in front of his ex-wife’s car and fired several more shots through the windshield. Tamara died.  The couple had been divorced for 3 weeks.

The following video was taken by a citizen after Seidle killed his ex-wife.  There was a stand-off with his fellow officers begging him to put the gun down and give himself up.

Seidle was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree unlawful possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.  He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

On September 29, 2016, after the impact statements and Seidle apologizing to his children and responding officers, the judge handed down the sentence.  Seidle was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He will have to serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for release. Seidle is 52-years old.

  1. Did you notice the part where they pulled their guns and approached his vehicle after the crash? Oh yeah, I didn’t either, in fact they took off running after he started shooting.

    • I noticed that as well. I think we need to find out a little more. The initial dash cam car was stopped on the right side for something else. Seidle comes from behind chasing his wife and both make a right turn. If I had been her, I’m stopping next to or behind the stopped cop car.

There is more going on here as far as that is concerned. I’m not sure but it sounds like a car horn beeps seconds before the 2 cars go around the corner.

This is just so bad on many fronts. Not that I was there, but the instant he fired the 1st shot, the other cops are supposed to fire on him, but as you say……..they ran.

  2. They could have shot him after the first volley instead of letting him shoot her 3 more times. And he did this in front of his 7-year-old child. Killed her mother and then threatened to kill himself. He belongs in prison for the rest of his life

  3. Yep, the police seem to be capable of plenty of restraint there in an actual active shooter situ.

Actually the cops standing around negotiating with him after the 1st volly of shots should be charged with endangerment or whatever bcuz she may of survived had they rescued her before he shot her some more. At the very least they would’ve prevented his child further terror from the second volly.
I kinda seem to recall that there was video of that 1st attack & there was an issue about the cops not stopping him then.. but maybe it was another case all together.
