Racist Hatred Comes Out Against Mothers of the Movement

At the Democratic National Convention held July 26, 2016, nine mothers appeared on the stage.  Those nine were:

Sybrina Fulton, mother of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin;

Gwen Carr, mother of 42-year-old Eric Garner;

Lezley McSpadden, mother of 18-year old Mike Brown;

Lucia McBath, mother of 17-year-old Jordan Davis;

Wanda Johnson, mother of 22-year old Oscar Grant;

Cleopatra Pendleton-Cowley, mother of 15-year old Hadiya Pendleton;

Annette Nance-Holt, mother of 16-year old Blair Holt;

Maria Hamilton, mother of 31-year old Dontré Hamilton.

Geneva Reed-Veal, the mother of 28-year old Sandra Bland

The nine mothers named above represent Mothers of the Movement because their children’s names helped energize the Black Lives Matter Movement and Black Lives Matter network.  Their goal is aimed at enacting better gun control measures, repeal laws that might shield vigilantes from prosecution, and increase transparency and accountability for officers who kill in the line of duty.

One would not know that if reading some of the racist tweets on Twitter, who have limited Mothers Of The Movement to be anti-cop.   Rawstory has already reported on the racist speech.

The grieving mothers were accused of not raising their children properly.  The racists called all victims criminals.  Evidently recognizing that Sandra Bland was not a man to fall into the category of “thugs”, the haters alleged Sandra  committed suicide because her mom did not get from Illinois to Texas in several hours over a weekend to bail Sandra out of jail.  (Well, they do have imaginations that Blacks have super powers but have yet to explain how commercial airlines do.)

The racist bigots prejudicially jump to conclusions including that all of the victims were killed by Whites, or White members of law enforcement while committing crimes.  Their racist tweets  are outright misrepresentations.  Oh heck — I’ll just show you a few of them and let them speak for themselves ….

Just to show the ignorance of the racial bigots and set the record straight ….

Wanda Johnson is the mother of Oscar Grant III.  Twenty-two year old Oscar Grant III was fatally shot by Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Department, (BART) officer named Johannes Mehserle in Oakland, California on New Year’s Day, 2009.  On July 8, 2010, Mehserle was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to two years in prison.  Oscar was no criminal, and although the punishment for killing Oscar was light, the fact that Mehserle was convicted means that Mehserle is the convicted felon.

Annette Nance-Holt is the mother of Blair Holt, THE SON OF A COP, who in May 2007 at the age of 16, was killed on a public transit bus in Chicago while shielding a friend.  Annette is a battalion chief for the Chicago Fire Department.  Blair’s dad Ron, is a Chicago Police Commander.

The man who killed Blair was found guilty and sentenced to 100 years in prison.  However, in September 2015, his case was sent back to court for re-sentencing. Blair’s killer is Black.

Cleopatra Pendleton-Cowley is the mother of Hadiya Pendelton.  On January 29, 2013, Hadiya was 15-years old when she was killed by gang crossfire in Chicago.  Hadiya was an honor student, and one week before she was killed, she performed at President Obama’s second inauguration.   The man who killed Hadiya is awaiting trial.  Her killer is Black.

 

Maria Hamilton is mother of Donte Hamilton, who was 31-years old when he was killed by Milwaukee Police Officer Christopher Manney in April 2014.  Manney has not been charged, but he was fired for violating the department’s pat-down rule.
