Police Officer Comforts Autistic Teen

In general, when the media reports cops who do something kind, it’s towards animals.  It’s not often, or often enough, that we read stories about law enforcement doing something kind for people.  So, I thought I’d share this uplifting story.  The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department posted the story on their Facebook page on May 13, 2016.

Officer Tim Purdy is with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina Police Department.  An unnamed teen student had left school and may have been suicidal.  The teen has a history of violent behavior due to a neuro-development disorder.

According to Yahoo news, when Officer Purdy spotted the student, he approached him, sat with him on the concrete and tried to connect with him. At one point, Purdy even made the teen laugh.

The police department wrote:

 “Officer Purdy established trust and a relationship that allowed officers to get this young man the help that he so desperately needed. There’s more to policing than making arrests and enforcing the law. Sometimes taking those extra little steps makes the biggest difference in someone’s life.”

      • Here we go ……… Fogen is lashing out at the Martins claiming they are bad parents and didn’t raise their kids right…….well……Fogen is the one with a police record to start with and he’s claiming they are capitalizing on his attack on Fogen.

        He’s also auctioning off (another fake auction I predict) the gun he used to kill Trayvon claiming that is what our forefathers would do.

        I swear by all that is holy, this nut job………..well, this takes the cake.

          • Eeeeeeeee. The Apperson trial. Apperson should claim SYG and self defense. If that doesn’t work, he can claim “Fogen is America’s most hated man” so why shouldn’t I try to take him out.

            Hey Fogen…….this bad parenting issue is such blatant BS, your a joke. Both of Trayvon’s parents had good paying jobs and 0 unemployment history. It’s now a matter of public record. You have an unemployment history that defies logic and probably never made more than 15K a year. You had 2 bogus business’s…..one pressure washing business that didn’t even own a single piece of equipment and a fake insurance agency…….in a relatives name yet who didn’t even have an ins. lic.

            And Fogen gets the loudest barrel award………..probably the only award he’ll ever get. Hell, I’ll bet his Little League coach wouldn’t even give him the participation trophy he’s such a jerk. Thinking about it……..I bet if he did play Little League, the pitchers who beaned him are just grinning away…..can ya blame them.

            If getting past the firearm is a good thing, drive to the top of a long bridge, throw it as far as you can…..hey, bring Osterman or Taaffe or someone to throw it for you. If you get sentimental……………….dive in after it……hey…..just sayin’……………..

            Now with that said……being the human and fallible and all that, I say we all get together and agree on a day and time where we can all face FL and give him the finger. Like we all haven’t thought of that before.
