‘Star Wars’ Just Came Out And Already Broke A Box Office Record

Anxious “Star Wars” fans who will tolerate none of your spoilers have broken one box office record — and the movie just came out.

Ticket vendor Fandango says “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has already broken its record for the most tickets sold for any film over its entire theatrical run. It usurped “Jurassic World” — another nostalgia-heavy flick — for the title.

Fandango, which sells tickets to a majority of theater screens in the U.S., did not specify the value of the tickets sold. But The Associated Press reported earlier today that the film has earned more than $100 million in presale tickets in North America. What’s more, according to a poll on the site, 63 percent of respondents had plans to see “The Force Awakens” more than once in theaters.

So yes, theaters will…

  4. My son is a huge Star Wars fan, so we’ll be seeing this in a Theater Near You…….well maybe near some of you…..or maybe not near you but we’ll be seeing it.

You’ll recognize me by the 10 gallon size buttered popcorn…….hey……just sayin’

In fact he’s such a huge fan I got him some very rare collectible original posters, mugs and even found an original press release kit in 100% mint condition from the desk of Lucas himself. I was expecting it to wind up being at least a grand so I watched it on e-bay until 20 seconds left and got it for the princely sum of $12.50……..and it’s not even Fogen forgery…..it’s the real deal.

So……………my favorite lines from the Stars Wars movies are

    10) “……laugh it up fuzzball”
    9) “….let the Wookie win”
    8) “….I have a bad felling about this”
    7) “Keep your distance, Chewie, but don’t, y’know, look like you’re keeping your distance.”
    Chewie “Arrghhhhh”
    “…I don’t know………fly casual.”
    6) “We seem to be made to suffer….it’s our lot in life”
    5) “I want them alive — no disintegration’s!”
    4) “Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?”
    3) “Would it help if I got out and pushed?!!”
    “…It might!″
    2) “Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh… everything’s perfectly all right now.
We’re fine. We’re all fine here now, thank you.” (makes face) “Uh, how are you?”
(blasts console) “…Boring conversation anyway. Luke! We’re gonna have company!”
    1) “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.”
“There aren’t the droids we’re looking for.
“They can go about their business”
“You can go about your business”

Of course some like me like Space Balls as well and my favorite scene is……

        • Barbara, I say the same about you. As this year comes to a close, I think back, and it doesn’t seem that 2012 was that long ago. That is when I came to the internet and began blogging. My, how time flies.

          • It sure does. I have been hear writing away for close to four years. I love what I ‘m doing and the fact the people read me is the cherry. I don’t care if they agree but I can get them thinking again. It isn’t an overly used process. Blessings, Barbara

And IdealisticRebel. She deserves every award she gets. In my opinion. There aren’t enough awards to give to a wonderful blogger such as Xena.

      I cosign your comment, Shyloh!

I have consistently read all of Xena’s articles over the last two years or so and have found Xena to be a factual reporter who is dedicated to the cause of equality and justice for ALL. I also have witnessed Xena’s blog to have attracted a diverse, caring community of followers. In addition, I have appreciated Xena’s uplifting and “refueling” articles that she has shared with our wonderful community here.

And so, Shyloh, I join you in congratulating Xena on her justly-deserved award.

In today’s internet world, many who post things do so on impulse, often with little knowledge of the subject at hand. Beyond that, many others with some knowledge rush to share views and opinions. In dynamic contrast, it has been my long-time observation that Xena’s postings not only are carefully and deeply researched, but are definitive.

    • Shyloh!!! CONGRATULATIONS to your son. Brag on, on and on, and on. You and he have very good reason to be proud, and to accomplish that with help with tuition is outstanding. Here’s hoping a very bright and successful future for him.

  8. Shyloh and Yathzee,
Thank you so much for your kind words. Participants are my inspiration. From the beginning with Mindyme and Jim, we wanted a “safe place” to express opinions and comments.

Words cannot express my appreciation. Your comments came at just the right time. They are like healing to a tired soul. Thank you again.

  10. I’ll most likely wait about a week before I go see the movie. I can’t stand the opening few days of a popular movie…..way too crowded. Now I just have to worry about avoiding the spoilers.

    • Towerflower,
I remember when we went to see ET. We needed 3 seats together and there were none. We got our money back and waited a week — went to the first/early screening and the movie was practically empty. For years, we attended the Chicago Film Festival. The theaters were quiet in spite of them being full, but I suppose that’s because we all wanted to hear and see – it wasn’t just for entertainment.
