Meeting Yourself Coming and Going
A Potpourri of things.
These last few months caused me to think about the old Dunkin’ Donuts commercial. It’s been a time when as soon as I think I’ve completed one thing, something else comes up. There are times when I long for the old days. Then, you could go to a general practitioner for almost any ailment, and almost every cure. There was no need to make an appointment for a blood test because they drew it right there in the office and sent it to the lab.
Truly, I don’t if it’s corporate business or medical malpractice insurance companies that caused the changes, but they are drooling on people who are already ill. I’ve probably put over a hundred miles on my car in the last few months running to this office, and that office, and back again.
Thinking about the old Dunkin’ Donuts commercials caused me to think about the Baby ETrade commercials. Remember those?
Updates in the News
Dillon Taylor
Back in June, we reported on the killing of Dillon Taylor. It was a case where the police responded based on a call about a man who might have had a gun. The officer arrived with his gun drawn and aimed, and shot Dillon dead on camera. The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office determined the shooting to be justified. The Deseret News reports that Dillon’s estate has filed a civil lawsuit in federal court against the Salt Lake City Police Department. The allegations include that the officer who shot Dillon as well as the others who responded;
“were improperly trained and groomed through a vicious culture and cycle of shoot-to-kill-first, avoid questions and accountability later, beginning at the start of their careers and reinforced throughout,” and alleged that the police department has “an entrenched departmental detachment from human life and the consequences of excessive deadly force.”
St. Louis Church Fires
You might have heard that there have been 7 church fires in St. Louis, MO this month. Yesterday, the police arrested a man for setting 2 of the fires.
David Lopez Jackson, 35, was charged with two counts of second-degree arson. He is held in lieu of $75,000 bail. Jackson was linked to one fire based on a video, and by his car being near another church. A container of gasoline and a thermos bottle that smelled of gasoline were found in his car. Some originally thought that the church fires were racially linked, but Jackson is Black, and has an extensive history of violence, including arson.
Hillary Clinton Supports The Death Penalty
Clinton’s position on the death penalty made up my mind. I will not vote for her if she is nominated to run on the Democratic ticket. I will vote for an independent instead. The States with the death penalty are having problems getting the drugs for lethal injection. There have been more than a few botched killings in the name of the government using that cocktail of drugs. Lethal injection is also how the federal death penalty is carried out. Even without the problems caused by lethal injection, I am opposed to the death penalty.
Fall Back in Time
Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday. If you’re not up at that hour, set them back before going to bed. Remember to change the clock in your vehicle.
Open Discussion
Since I’m still meeting myself going and coming, I might not write again soon, so feel free to use this thread to share whatever is on your mind.

Jim, I’m keeping my eye on him more now. What I’m wondering is if he’s nominated, can he win the election?

Thanks Chuquest. There is such a long wait between appointments and referrals. The next hurdle is getting through so much paperwork. Each referral requires filling-out another health history. Hurdle 3 is organization. The health organization sends me absolutely too much mail, from verifying appointments to announcing upcoming health fairs, surveys, etc. It’s ridiculous.

Hope you get through all the paperwork and are feeling better soon, Xena.

Sounds like they went into a time machine and returned to the late 1960’s. Then, they hired “quotas” and subjected them to so much hate that they quit.

Yes, and one has to wonder how the white MTA officers treat Black and Latino passengers using the MTA if they treat their fellow officers who are Black and Hispanic with such racial discrimination.

They no doubt see themselves as overseers for passengers, which is opposite of seeing minorities earn a decent living.

IMO, I don’t think that Reeves will prevail on a SYG. If this case does go to trial, I can’t see him prevailing either. It’s pretty obvious that he was in no danger.

Well, well. Groubert faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted for the felony charges stemming from the shooting, and is on house arrest for the shoplifting charges. Looks like he’s proven himself unworthy to be deputized to serve and protect.
