Stand By Me – Open Discussion

Caterpillars, moths, butterflies and all creatures great and small,

Thanks to those who participate here, and all new visitors and subscribed followers. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I’ve found myself in a place of having little time to write, but I would like to share the following with you.

Ben_E_KingOne of my favorite singers, Ben E. King, has crossed over.

The song that he is famous for is “Stand By Me.”

I love the rendition that Playing for Change did with the song. They incorporated people around the world singing and playing it.

It gives me goose bumps.

Trust me, this song is a good way to begin your week.

    • There’s a B.B. King, a Ben E. King, and an Albert King. People used to confuse them. 🙂 Albert died around 1991. B.B. is expected to die any day now.

B.B. King’s guitar is name Lucille. Albert King’s guitar was named Lucy. Both played Blues, but Albert also recorded some belly-rubbing love songs.

Ben E. King used to sing with the Platters and his music was in the category of Pop.

Have I confused you more? LOL!

      Here’s Albert:

  5. That is a wonderful video. It takes a LOT of talent to combine different countries and states to make this one video in unison. Thank you for sharing.

Still working on new career.I hope all as well as can be. With the charges of those involved in the killing of Freddy Gray,Walter Scott,Eric Harris hopefully this will be the start of those police officers who violate laws, especially kill people. Now yesterday,NYPD officer Brian Moore lost his life after being shot in the face. Now the person charged with his shooting was arrested immediately, imprisoned and I guarantee won’t be given bail. Moore’s shooting didn’t need a video for action to be taken. Civilians deserve the same.

Also a few days before Ben E King passed, the great Percy Sledge passed.Percy of course made the classic When A Man Loves A Woman. A standard on the radio, weddings, commercials etc.RIP Mr Sledge. Here is the great classic:

    • Hey chuquestaque! I thought about Percy Sledge yesterday as I was going through tapes, (yeah those old things) looking for Ben E. King’s songs. Some years ago I purchased a turn table that connects to the computer and records them digitally and can be burned to CD. When I looked for a tape player to do the same, I was told that they don’t make them anymore.

I’m sorry to hear of officer Brian Moore’s passing. On another thread, Yahtzee is keeping Brelo’s trial updated. He is charged with manslaughter for standing on the hood of a vehicle and shooting the unarmed occupants.

Thought I’d come to this open discussion page to post the following article link:

“Story of Richard and Mildred Loving to be filmed in Virginia”

    http://www.richmond.com/news/virginia/government-politics/article_9c2414e3-2833-5486-92b3-69c270077f74.html

    Excerpt:

Richard and Mildred Loving did not set out to become civil rights heroes. But the couple from Caroline County made history in 1967 when they found themselves in the center of a U.S. Supreme Court case that would end prohibitions against interracial marriage in the United States.

Almost 50 years later, a motion picture about their story will be filmed in Virginia, the state where the Lovings sought to overturn the laws that were designed to keep them apart and dehumanize their love.
