He challenged and inspired us to reach deeper within ourselves, despite ourselves, for our best, which sometimes is, simply, better than yesterday. His power endures because it’s rooted in the courage to hold hope and faith in each others potential: “knowing” we can do it… we can be better every day, each in our own way.

On this, the U.S. holiday celebrating his life and legacy, I present…

Martin Luther King will always live on through his words, his deeds, his guidance and his spirit of heart.

He still speaks to us from the Mountaintop.

  5. Thanks for this blog. I remember exactly where I was when I heard he had been killed. Man, that was a sad time and his life was the topic of discussion for a week in school. I was in 7th grade. I remember RFK breaking the news on TV.

Little did we know at the time that what he said would be so prophetic and profound. I firmly believe James Earl Ray did not act alone.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, why can’t we all just get along ?? It certainly isn’t that hard in my opinion.

Great quotation from the newly discovered his 1964 speech:

One excellent quotation from his speech:

This is where I must leave Mr. Goldwater and others who believe that legislation has no place.

It may be true that you can’t legislate integration, but you can legislate desegregation.

It may be true that morality cannot be legislated, but behavior can be regulated.

It may be true that the law can’t change the heart, but it can restrain the heartless.

It may be true that the law can’t make a man love me, but it can restrain him from lynching me.

And I think that’s pretty important also.
