Woman Denies Sending Tweet Regarding Ferguson Grand Jury

On September 18, 2014, I wrote a post about Darren Wilson testifying before the St. Louis County grand jury. Darren Wilson is the Ferguson police officer who, on August 9, 2014, shot 18-year old Michael Brown 6 times, twice in the head. Witnesses say that Darren Wilson shot several times as Michael ran away and it appeared that Michael had been shot. He turned around and with his hands up in the universal position of surrender. Wilson proceeded to fire until Michael was dead.

Step Down McCullough Grand juries are presented evidence by the prosecution. The accused are not present. The job of the grand jury is to see if there is sufficient evidence to indict. It is not a trial where the accused gets to appear and defend him or herself. There are reports that St. Louis County State’s Attorney McCulloch invited Wilson to testify before the grand jury.   Having no written report by Darren Wilson, the grand jury could only hear Wilson’s side of the story from his own mouth, but that is not standard procedure as the state does not (or is not suppose to) represent the accused.

In the September 18th post, I wrote that grand juries are secretive. From that perspective, the person who leaked information about who appeared before the grand jury violated the confidentiality of the grand jury system and in doing so, betrayed public trust. It was and is my opinion that the grand jury’s investigation should be closed due to breach of confidentiality and turned over to the federal government.

Yesterday, reports came out that someone on Twitter claimed having a friend on the grand jury who was giving her information about the Wilson investigation. Activist Shaun King received information, took screenshots of the tweets, and reports that the Twitter account was soon deleted thereafter.

Shaun Kings tweets

Somehow, CNN was able to identify the account holder and talked to her on the doorstep of her home.   The person who posted the tweets now says that her Twitter account “…had to have been hacked.”

These tweets came at the same time that Ed Magee, the spokesman for McCullough’s office, told the media that “The investigation has been basically completed that is being conducted by both the FBI and St. Louis County PD.”

police-shooting-missouri-rally-62988d6997c1199cWhen considering that information was leaked regarding Darren Wilson testifying before the grand jury, and now tweets saying that the person has a friend on the grand jury who says there isn’t enough evidence to arrest Wilson, there is definitely someone leaking confidential information.

Here’s the problem. State’s Attorney McCullough has taken over investigating the matter.

“The matter has been referred to the prosecuting attorney for investigation,” said a statement from the St. Louis County court administrator. “The court will hear the matter and take appropriate action, if the prosecutor finds cause to believe misconduct has occurred.”

McCullough did nothing when grand jury information was leaked that Darren Wilson testified before the grand jury, so why he should now be trusted to investigate this matter of further alleged leaks? McCullough is involved in organizations that are raising money for Darren Wilson. He is not impartial.  McCullough’s agenda is apparently to not have Wilson indicted, so he could care less about leaked information as long as it does not interfere with reaching his goal.

I know enough about how authorities get around things.  To make it appear that the decision of the grand jury was based on evidence,   they simply argue that the leaked information did not interfere with the grand jury’s investigation.  The real issue is that a grand juror has breached confidentiality.  It is my impression that the citizens of Ferguson have tired of the smoke and mirrors.  McCullough needs to step down.

this right here should cause the Department of Justice to take over from here make this a federal case now because you have corruption left and right and when Local law enforcement does not follow the letter of the law the FBI must step in.

I feel we have enough evidence with this tweet + plus the leak that Darren Wilson earlier had testified for 4 hours that there has been enough misconduct to warrant a complete investigation of the goings on within the Grand Jury by an “outside” authority like the DOJ.

Not being a user of Twitter, I have a question to ask. When you use twitter do you leave a history? Is this history accessible to compare her past postings to this one? Next question, how difficult would it be to hack her twitter account? Who would have a reason to hack her account? Last question, if he account was hacked has the party that hacked the account accomplished their goal?
I would quickly admit that I can not think of one realistic goal of a hacker in making a post that really serves no real purpose other than to create a hostile environment, and IMO the environment in the area at this time would seem to be hostile enough at this stage of the investigation…

    • Mothman,
One thing that I’ve seen is that what many refer to as being “hacked” on social media, is not being “hacked.” It’s being impersonated. There are keen, nasty people, who open twitter accounts using handles very much like the person they are impersonating. With the use of lower case letters, some resembling numbers, and numbers such as “0” instead of the lower case “o”, people make handles where others can mistake the impersonator for the actual person.

Cyber-harassers are almost professionals in setting up Twitter accounts to impersonate those they hate. They are not “parody” accounts but actual, intentional, impersonations.

Another thing that I understand is that in order to hack a twitter account, the hacker has to hack into the Twitter server. Otherwise, for a person to post on the twitter account of another, they would need access to that person’s computer, or their twitter sign-in and password.

I find it difficult to believe that someone hacked “thesusannichols” twitter account. It came down too fast — deleted — after her mouthing off was discovered. If it was an impersonator or anyone intending her harm, they would have left the account up.

      Like

      • Add to this Xena that “thesusanichols” would be singled out and included were those the message was sent to, as in selected individuals. How savvy to suggest to ‘her’ that this information be removed post haste – it would mean those who responded also deleted the suggestion to remove the information. Of course, why “thesusannichols?” And to what benefit for those who would do this to her via a “hack?” No benefit… that I and thousands of others can think of – the connection(s) to the grand juror shouldn’t be that hard to coordinate should the DOJ become involved. As they should.

And McCullough, he needs to be removed and investigated for ‘his’ connections. Something tells me there is a whole lot of rotten tomatoes in that town…too many are being protected. I call it muddying the waters. And I think some heads are going to roll.

Xena & pilcherje, Thank you for your answers. You did clear up the questions that were bothering me about this latest episode in this tragic event. I have not researched the Missouri law in regards to the rules of the Grand Jury at this time, and I’m not sure I even want to, due to the volatile environment surrounding this event. I will however ask a question or two. Would a breach of confidentiality from a member of the jury be a felony? Could the offending member of the jury be removed and the jury continue on with it’s work or is there a minimum number of jurors that must under provision of the law be available to continue the process? Under what federal law statute could the Justice Department assume control of the local grand jury, and who or what federal department would make the decision to do so? Last question, in the event that this or any other grand jury declines to charge the officer, will the community accept their decision.

I have been thinking of a side issue, crustyolemothman.

Remember how the latest comment by Prosecutor McCullough was that he thought the Grand Jury would have a verdict by early November (after he originally had been thinking it would be as late as January) ?

I just hope he isn’t hoping that a verdict in November would be the perfect distraction during midterm elections in Ferguson and St. Louis in early November.

I hope there is not anything going on (Grand Jury decision) that would distract from people getting out to vote successfully.

However I decided not to bring up that point due to many of my comments seem to be taken out of context and I did not wish to muddy the water of free and open discussion. You have made a very valid point, and one might have cause to consider the Twitter Post could possibly been an inside job, so to speak, to curtail the free expression of the people thru the voting process. However this prosecutor has no fear, because if my memory serves me right he has no opponent in the election. The area from what I have seen is more or less solidly in control of the Democrat’s so could one safely assume they would not be behind this fiasco? I can’t imagine the city council from Ferguson would have enough influence at this juncture to pull this off, so the big question still remains, who could benefit from this? I noticed that the Twitter post was addressed to two people, do we know who they are and do they have any connection to the situation in Ferguson on either side of the equation? For this to have come out like this, and at this time, it would seem to have been done for a reason. I asked earlier, does a persons Twitter Posts have an accessible history that is available? I would guess that if it does some questions could be answered from that history..

That is great news!!!! If we really want to bring change to this nation, that is how it will happen… If the people don’t vote then they have no voice in the process… I have had this discussion with more people in the last six years than in previous years, simply because after hearing them speak of the POTUS in vulgar terms, I love to ask them if they voted! Most of the time they say, well no I did not vote, I then explain to them in simple terms, that by not voting, they actually elected the man they hate so much. Listening to them stammer and sputter after that is pretty amusing in a perverted sort of way… IMO if you don’t use the right to vote, you lose the right to complain about who is elected…

Well, crustyolemothman, here is another thing which I have been thinking:

Could it be that the ideology of these so called “Democrats” in Missouri be that of the OLD racist Southern Democrats that ran the “system” from the Civil War through the Jim Crow days BEFORE they moved over to the Republican party recently as “Tea Party,” religious-right, and extremely (radical) conservative types?

If they are, this could be why there is the VERY odd absence of Republican candidates running against some of these so called “Democrats.”

yahtzee, While anything is possible, the reason I discount the Democrats from involvement is due to the state being pretty much solidly Republican in most areas. I think the reason for no real (in the past) push by the Republican party in this area of the state is due simply to their thought pattern that a black person would not vote for a Republican candidate. That statement on their part has always been a problem with me, because it simply says that a persons thought pattern is totally controlled by the color of their skin, which is IMO about as racist as is possible. However, back to your comment (thought), You could verify your thought, if you wish, simply by looking to see who that area supported in the last two presidential elections, If they were “Old Racist Southern Democrats”, it would be apparent if President Obama did not carry the vote in that area… A lot of times when we look at current events, history is our friend (along with Google), and reveals much when placed into the correct context.

While eating crow would not be too bad if it were not for those big old feathers, maybe I could grind up the feathers a little before swallowing them? After I sent the last post, I did a quick search on Google to see how Ferguson had voted in the last two presidential elections. After seeing that President Obama had scored a huge win in that area, I stumbled across the article that I will provide at the end of this post. The information in that article (if true?) is pretty telling about how the political process is being manipulated in that area. But I still have a hard time accepting that the leadership (if you can call it that?) in Ferguson could possibly have enough clout to pull off a scam like this..

Loaded, and good questions. Let me start with the one I’m most familiar with.

Under what federal law statute could the Justice Department assume control of the local grand jury, and who or what federal department would make the decision to do so?

The Justice Department would not assume control of the local grand jury. It could possibly get a court injunction to stay that grand jury pending investigation, (which is actually what McCullough should do under Missouri law). Its Public Integrity Section of the DOJ could look for federal statutes that gives it that jurisdiction. Since the internet was used, it could also look within federal wire fraud statutes regarding the party that used Twitter.

Regarding Missouri statue for its grand jury, I’m reading http://www.moga.mo.gov/STATUTES/C540.HTM. Will get back to you on that.

          Oath of grand jurors.

540.080. Grand jurors may be sworn in the following form:

Do you solemnly swear you will diligently inquire and true presentment make, according to your charge, of all offenses against the laws of the state committed or triable in this county of which you have or can obtain legal evidence; the counsel of your state, your fellows and your own, you shall truly keep secret? You further swear that you will present no one for any hatred, malice or ill will; neither will you leave unpresented any one for love, fear, favor or affection, or for any reward or the hope or promise thereof, but that you will present things truly as they come to your knowledge, to the best of your understanding, according to the laws of this state, so help you God.

Xena, I did a few minutes of digging after I returned from town. If this is applicable then the problem is not as severe as it would seem. There is a provision to remove and “replace” the offending juror. IMO the Justice Dept. at this time, because the state does have remedies available to resolve the alleged issue, will not step in. The state rights issue would be very difficult to overcome at this point. Much as we won’t see the results of the Justice Departments investigation into this matter until after the state has taken their position, it is not likely that the Justice Department would interfere into what is still at this point a local and state issue. Look at the information that I am going to post here and see if you think it covers this juror or at least the removal and replacement of said juror..

True, the feds will be very careful to not step on state’s rights. Looking at the entire picture, the feds are concerned and involved in how LE is handling protests. If the news that a person on the grand jury is giving confidential information out that Wilson will not be arrested, that can result in civil protests AND POSSIBLY civil disobedience due to anger, betrayal, and partiality.

Preventing civil unrest is something that the feds are already involved in, in Ferguson. In order to put this matter aside regarding an alleged member of the grand jury allegedly sharing confidential information with a friend, the DOJ needs to release a statement of its involvement, assuring the people that regardless of the county’s grand jury, they continue to conduct an impartial investigation.

    • Crusty, I posted the following on Jueseppi’s blog: “thesusannichols” account has now been taken over by an “anti-racism campaign” using the same twitter name: https://twitter.com/thesusannichols It’s quite informative and notes where “old tweets” by Susan M. Nichols can be found. I haven’t checked that out.

Their objective: To amplify intolerance, racism & bigotry in social media, faces of racism. Yes, they are screen capturing racists and bigots and posting them on the page. They are asking why Twitter is allowing racist comments. They are speaking out.

The @ “micworker” (Lynn Sydney) noted in “thesusannichols” original tweets appears to have vanished and notes “internal service error.” However, in the “Tweet Tunnel” the account shows “protected.” The Tweet Tunnel shows prior tweets sent by ‘tweeters’. The original account by Susan through tweettunnel.com shows it is protected – Assuming it means ‘her’ prior tweets are now protected. (I understand she’s using a different name)

I should add that the other individual in the original text by Susan is Vicki M @ nubian_1, she is an avid supporter in the justice for Michael Brown and was part of ‘other’ tweets that openly spoke out about having captured Susan’s tweets and in reporting them.

If this is the case, then something seems strange about this exchange. Why would this “Susan” address a Twitter Post to a person that anyone with a functioning mind would have realized would have gone ballistic upon hearing that information? Do we have access to the conversation that was taking place before the several that were screen captured? I’m having a hard time accepting that this was just an innocent post on the part of the person that posted it. If we had the full conversation then perhaps we could make a little sense of why it was posted. What often happens when we try to solve a mystery with only a small part of the puzzle then we end up using emotion and assumptions in an effort to solve it and far too often come to the wrong conclusion… I may be wrong, once again, but something does not ring true about this whole story…

Actually Crusty, I didn’t see anything by @nubian_1 that would suggest she had a short fuse prior nor after Susan’s post. Sometimes Twitter users look for what is trending by way of topic, Ferguson certainly is in that category. Users can see those who are making current comments about Wilson or Michael Brown and will seek those people out.

Some are trolling looking for an argument. It’s possible Susan was ‘looking’ and found the segue she was looking for to ‘boast’ about her insider knowledge after seeing a comment(s) about protesters being arrested and how other investigations must surely be completed, like ballistics. And paraphrasing, that it looked like there wasn’t going to be an indictment. She was called out instantly because of the grand jury obligation to secrecy after she claimed she knew a juror. Those suggesting she remove the tweet may or may not be Susan’s cohorts.

While two went into protected mode, @ nubian_1 had no reason to nor did she. In fact, between nubian_1 and another poster, while there was a difference of opinion as to whom the info should go to, (not the media) two claimed to have captured the screen shot. One had proof, nubian_1, while the other refused to ‘show’ her proof (she also felt Twitter and investigators should handle everything) she also stated she believed it should go to Crump. nubian_1 disagreed.

As far as an A to Z trail, there isn’t anymore though one blog happened to catch some comments by Susan that were NOT in the headlining news once this was revealed. Susan definitely has a ”way with words” and is an avid Wilson supporter. She had that account for 5 years!

Obviously I used a term that was not received in the manner that it was intended. Perhaps the term “Concerned” would have been better received? Had our conversation been eye to eye, I don’t think you would have taken my use of the word out of context, and would have better understood my intent. Sorry for the confusion. Not knowing the individual I would have no way of knowing if she had a short fuse and to imply she did never entered my mind.

You do bring an interesting point out when you say this “Susan” person is an avid Wilson supporter. Do you have a link to verify that or is that just what you have read somewhere? If she is, it would go a long ways in explaining her actions, wouldn’t it. As far as her “having a way with words” the only thing from her that I have read is the short Twitter post that is in this article, so if you have a source to something that she has written in his support a link would be appreciated.

Do you suppose this “Susan” wrote those posts to antagonize those that support the Brown family in an effort to cause them to increase the protests or something? As I said before, this episode seems rather strange…

I read through nubian_1 posts, top to bottom. And what I read of Susan, those were her words on her Twitter account before she deleted it. She may have been trying to egg on a situation by mentioning as well that she was wearing the Wilson bracelet that officers had been wearing. That was not mentioned for the news article among other comments by her which were also screen shots. For me, that does (Admin’s note:correction based on content and to avoid confusion) make her a Michael Brown supporter and explains the action she took to state she knew a juror. I wish I could tell you what blog I saw it on, I would copy it to post here. I’ve read a lot today and of course, followed “re-blogs” … so at this moment, there’s no telling in my history from today where it is.

That Susan deleted her account immediately says a lot to me – one in that she had no clue as to the law(s) governing the grand jury. Two, the potential of her “friend” being exposed. She had to lie when confronted. But that doesn’t necessarily mean a connection will be made, I only hope that it will be stringently investigated. But not by the cronies of that town. It’s another weak link in the chain of eroded trust for the citizens of Ferguson who rightfully demand justice, to right the wrongs that have been denied – their civil rights…and I’m sad that Michael Brown lost his life, that end does not justify the means by which change should come.

I don’t believe it was done to incite rioting, it seemed to me a personal kind of delight to ‘be in the know.’ There may be a hint of political sabotage taking place, by the cronies involved, but I only feel that way because I feel the DOJ has volumes of information – some may turn whistle blower and some know heads (even their own) are going to roll.

Here in Seattle, the DOJ made it clear, clean it up or they, the Feds, would be taking over. We now have a community police commission. I would imagine at this point in Ferguson, there are quite a few who are exhausted from the continuous questioning. Once the reports are completed, civil rights violations will tell even more of the story. Those in charge in Ferguson will either be under control of the Feds or they’ll have a given time to complete required changes. If those are not met, the hammer comes down a lot harder.

Just to add my two cents worth on the following:

Do you have a link to verify that or is that just what you have read somewhere?

When someone deletes their twitter account, their tweets are no longer available. If they change their account to “protected,” only followers that they have approved can read their tweets. People don’t, in general, take screenshots of the timelines of others unless they have reason to obtain evidence. It was when the person alleged being a friend of someone on the grand jury that it became necessary to screenshot that tweet.

“Susan” may have been talking crap when saying she has a friend on the grand jury, then again, maybe she wasn’t and those investigating will look at her motive or agenda in saying what the alleged friend told her.

Xena, Actually I was hoping that we might have some words that could accurately be attributed to “Susan” that came from a source other than her Twitter Posts. From what little I have seen from Twitter you can’t really get a good view of the persons ability to write well..
You mention “Protected”, does that mean that her account was not removed, but only put into a protected mode? Hmmm…. This incident seems to get stranger by the minute. If the post was an effort to get attention, then the poster definitely accomplished their goal…

As I understand it, her Twitter account was deleted, but not before, (and just after), Shaun captured the screenshots. I added the info about a protected account as general info about Twitter.

When it comes to doubt, keep in mind that when CNN talked to her on her doorsteps, she did not refute that it was her account . Her defense is that her account had been hacked.

No need for you to apologize, it was I who used a term that was not appropriate.. Your comments about Twitter reinforces my decision to not participate there, I also do not do the face book thing either…
I have spent what was probably too much time reading various news reports and blogs about this incident, and at this stage, there are so many diverse opinions of who was behind this and the reason it was done that I think finding a four leaf clover would be easier… Did you ever assemble a puzzle and get close to finishing and then discover that you had about twenty or so pieces missing? That is what this is beginning to look like…
Unless something else develops on this incident, I will probably just go back into quiet mode. Thank you for your input, and especially for a cordial conversation.. Have a pleasant evening..

Ok, this is just my opinion.

I think this Susan M Nichols that tweeted on October 1, 2014, @ 1:45 PM, that was screen shot by Shaun King, panicked, and deleted her twitter account.

What we NEED to find out is if she really has any contact with anyone sitting on the grand jury. This should be easy for the FBI………etc.

Once again, transparency is urgently needed so there can be………..

    Justice for Mike Brown

    • I’m just worried that the lies will continue. The GJ is not sequestered and as such she has most likely made contact with the person on the GJ about her tweeting. That person will know that they are in deep doo doo if they acknowledge speaking about it or knowing the other person. You know by now they have scrubbed their on line media accounts but hopefully left a phone trial.

I am limited in how much I can say, as I have seen something similar, but I can tell you in all certainty……..if the desire is there to find out if this person knew someone on the Grand Jury, it is already known. Now, the question is……will we ever know? Ferguson has a proven track record, for decades, of never indicting one of their police officers, no matter how brutal or egregious the crime.

It’s not the VERIFACITION we should be questioning, but what the odds are that we will be given it!

Let me ask you this? If we deleted all of our computer files, and swore we had never posted to each other, would there be a trail? Of Course there would be. If we talked by phone? Trail again. If we were, or ever lived in the same area? Trail again. If we knew any of the same people? Trail again. etc……etc………..

The authorities already know, because of this being so high profile, if she knows anyone on the GJ.

Now we just have to wait and see if they are up front with us. Seems all I hear is silence………..No yeah or nay………..which doesn’t instill a lot of trust on my behalf.

I would like to see them dissolve this GJ, definitely appoint a different prosecutor, and get down to business and handle this indictment correctly. I will always feel a dark cloud hovers over this GJ now, and never feel confident, no matter what the outcome is, that everything was above board.

Steve Harvey’s emotional chat with Michael Brown’s mom:

Published on Sep 30, 2014 by Steve Harvey

It’s a story we all remember. None of us could miss the headlines and the national issues it dug up; violence, race and dignity. They’re topics we must talk about as a society but we can’t let that overshadow the loss Michael’s family is going through right now, the grief they can only hope to one day overcome.

Steve talked with Lesley McSpadden, Michael Brown’s mom, about overcoming grief.

and the grief consoler was a bit noxious and condescending and didn’t bother to research the basics before she came on the show of where Mike Brown was and/or what happened. she suxed!

        Hi Shannon,

What is so wonderful about being able to comment on Xena’s blog is that you and all of us can share our feelings and opinions. I am so glad you have shared yours.

Steve Harvey had many good, compassionate and supportive things to say in my opinion. However, if I were in the midst of grieving, I would not be able to handle a “God has a purpose” type comment. I would prefer a hug, or someone saying that they care.

Yet, I would rather people risk approaching me saying the wrong thing than to remain silent.

        Liked by 1 person

        • Yahtzee.Yeah you’re right, Steve was compassionate imo too.
and tho I never thought about it like that, I believe you’re right about the risk of offending vs staying silent so I’d be interested in what you might want someone to say to you in that situation, especially if a hug isn’t physically possible.
In situations like this I tend to stay silent because I can’t think of anything good or comforting to say to someone living with a beloved one’s death.
I’ve basically stayed angry at death. I really hate it.
And i try to stick to ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything” esp about such emotional things like death of someone you love. I really don’t know what could possibly make someone feel better.

Mostly I wanna blurt out something like; take it from me, it never gets better, you’re always gonna suffer so start getting used to the misery.
That’s just my honest truth and so I feel so horrible for what they’re going through and will be forever. although 20 some years later i’ve learned most ppl do end up getting to a point where their pain softens with some time, some support & counseling maybe, and healthier coping skills.
But when I say nothing it’s only because I don’t want to tell them my truth because it’s not comforting.

the only thing I remember anyone saying directly to me at my mom’s funeral was
“God works in mysterious ways” when I asked why my mom died. I resented that person & God for saying it but resisted responding with the typical teenage ‘eye roll/ whatever’ out of respect for my elder. but I never forgot that comment and I still cant stand it!

            “God works in mysterious ways”

That is not found anywhere in the Bible. It’s something folks coined when they thought it was necessary to give an answer for something they can’t answer. Like Old Testament saints blamed God for striking people with sickness and death because they didn’t see what caused it,(heart attacks, strokes, seizures), people still blame God for things they do not understand.

I would recommend that if anyone says that to you again, to ask them to show you where it is written, but once they realize it’s not in the Bible, they will no doubt give you illogical reasons for why you should believe it anyway. Then they will feel bad, and you will feel worst.

There was a time I questioned why God allows evil. Indeed, if I saw someone abusing animal or human, my first inclination would be to kick the ca-ca out of them. But God does not use evil to stop or overcome evil. Since he’s the God of spirits and the God of life, I rest in the belief that he takes care of every spirit returned to him. That doesn’t heal my grief, but it opens the door for me to deal with it without it negatively effecting my life.

LOL@spiders. I would ask the same about snakes. 🙂

“so I’d be interested in what you might want someone to say to you in that situation, especially if a hug isn’t physically possible.”

Personally, I would simply like people to speak from their hearts.

In your case, from what you have written, you just could say something heartfelt like “I wish I could find words that would comfort you” or “I grieve with you and am holding you close in my heart” or (as far as not being able to physically give a hug) “My heart is reaching out to you with an embrace” or simply: “I love you.”

Those words from you would touch my heart and would let me know that you care about me and what I am going through.

“God works in mysterious ways” really = “I don’t know”

Shannon, am I right in guessing that your saying “Why?” was not so much a question as it actually was a cry from your heart….a statement of feelings?

I have to share what our 8-year-old son said when his very beloved grandpa (my dad) died of cancer 25 years ago. Kids, you know, are not like adults who often search for profound things to say.

Our son simply said, “That’s that” and then cried. It was as if he was realizing that he could do nothing to change the fact that Grandpa had died….that he had no control over death. All he could do was accept my hug of understanding and know that all of us would miss Grandpa.

I can’t begin to imagine what I would have done if my mom had died when I was 15…..just the thought of it right now is unbearable for me.

I personally think what you label as “denial” was your spirit soothing you and being gentle with you until you were/are ready…strong enough or who knows what… to allow your full grief to impact you. Frankly, I think your spirit did your heart a favor.

Shannon, I really don’t know how well I would do if I did not have the spiritual faith that I feel deep inside me and also feeling the “realness” of it.

Oh DOJ, please let us know,
which way it is, that you will go.
The Grand Jury is in dispute,
    because they’re verdict we’ll refute!

A person said she knows someone,
no indictment is set to come!
She said this Jury won’t indict,
the officer who is in flight.

How can you turn your back and say,
that Michael Brown can’t have his day?
His hands were raised, he had NO GUN,
yet Wilson remains on the run.

His salary paid, his badge is soiled,
he killed this child, his excuse foiled.
Just bring him in, and make him tell,
the true story of Michael’s hell.

Though we are not there on the street,
to show support, or feel the heat.
We beg you, please, our hearts cry out,
in Michael’s name, it’s all about!

Please let Mike’s parents see the day,
    the prosecution has their say.
It’s Wilson that should walk truths mile,
we only seek a fair, just trial.

    So silence twitter, facebook too,
ignore them, let the facts speak true.
The Grand Jury should stand, proclaim,
that Wilson takes “The Walk Of Shame!”

Anything LESS than an indictment for Officer Wilson will be seen as a “Travesty of Justice”

He took an OATH to Protect, yet he gunned down an unarmed teen with his hands raised!

Bring him in! Make him stand trial! Justice MUST be served!

    RIP Mike

YVW, Mindy. Yes, it is awesome and SO moving!

They left peacefully afterwards saying “Black Lives Matter”

This video records everything with sharper images and continues recording during their peaceful exit. You can see many in the audience and orchestra clapping for them:

I am proud of the soldiers protesting. Tearful.

Yahtzee, question; I’ve talked with couple of people who would like to donate. Problem, they never pay anything via internet w/credit or debit card. Do you know of any organization they can forward donations to via check to support the Ferguson Movement?

        peni4yothot,

I have only seen internet links…not any addresses where check can be mailed.

Someone on Twitter should contact a person like Antonio French via Twitter and suggest that he provide a street address for checks to be mailed.

If you’re looking to send things for protestors:
          P.O. Box 5277
          St. Louis MO 63115
Include return address & full name.

Not only does HB1466 allow for the names of officers who kill citizens to be permanently hidden, but any employment infractions as well.

Read EACH one of these sections again. This law GUARANTEES that details of officer shootings can legally disappear!</em

For those of you have would like to help support their efforts, but do not live close enough to help in person, they have created an Amazon Registry/Wish list.

    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/1T7ZXHGMICEGZ/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_ws_ugR.tb0QVJ81W

If you are so inclined, and have the funds to help out, you can buy items and have them sent to their office.

    The office/ship to address is:

    Heal STL
    Attn: Antonio French
    9171 W. Florissant
St. Louis, MO, 63136, United States

The above was posted in the following Daily Kos article:

(Heal STL is continually updating items needed on the Amazon Registry Wish List.)

    • Peni, when I read about that last night, I shouted “Hallelujah!” In August, I wrote about the Ferguson police making the people “march.” https://blackbutterfly7.wordpress.com/2014/08/23/demonstrations-protests-marches/ At the time, I did not know if there was a city ordinance they were enforcing or not, but hoped that someone would pursue the court to question whether or not it is unconstitutional.

Well, it follows the pattern of the Ferguson and St. Louis police departments to make up their own laws and punish the people for disobeying. Now, I expect that all those arrested for violating the “5 second rule” will have a defense and see charges dismissed. That doesn’t reverse the damage already done in their lives, and I hope that some of the volunteer attorneys in that area will help the people expunge that unconstitutional arrest from their record and get a full return of bail money.

Ferguson PD is inept, period. Thus far they have shown the world just how out of control they are. I knew then once we saw the protestors having to keep walking; that it was ridiculous. I mean really, we can’t stand still and talk?!
        ACLU is on it.

      • Yahtzee,
Word Press has made some changes so that certain embedded links appear. However, only those that come to the blog can see what is embedded. Those who subscribe to email notifications of comments do not see the embeds. The same is true for embeds of Twitter and Youtube videos. What those who subscribe to email notifications of comments see, does not tell them what is there to determine if it’s anything that they might want to reply to.

Generally, I check comments from the Admin side so I can manage other things on that side. I don’t see embeds on the Admin side either so I do miss things when they are embedded.

        But yeah, it’s nifty.

Yes, I realize that. That is why I google search “Blackbutterfly7” each time I want to read your page. Of course, the drawback to my method is that I then have to take time to hunt for the new comments.

When I get links in regular emails (not blog emails), I copy them in a new window so that I do not lose my place on my email page. I realize that people using phones (maybe iPads) can’t do that.

I didn’t know this one was an “embed link”. I thought it would just appear like the links I give to articles.

It’s okay. I’m sorry if what I wrote sounded offensive or put you on the defense. I’m not sure how web based email works with links. There are so many different ways now to access the internet and email that it makes my head swim. LOL!

Word Press has made some changes and we really don’t know what a link will do until we post it. For example, I’ve noticed that most links to photos now result in the photo appearing. I’ve had minimum work lately using the image embed for links to photos in comments, because the photos appear. 🙂

    • Bill,
Good to see you! Now that a cop has killed another teen, about 18 miles from Ferguson, this weekend might be a power keg of protests. I hope they are peaceful, but then I remember the line from Billy Jack:
“When the police violate the law, there is no law, just the fight for survival.”
