    • Wow! she must of told my mom that too bc my mom told me if you want a friend you have to be a friend.

      and the best advice my mom gave me was basically beauty is in the eye of the beholder. but she said it in a way that shocked me into believing it and living by it forever.

      I have a problem w spiders. when I was a kid I stepped on one and I cant tell you what I saw because I blacked out a little. but ever since I’ve been horrified of spiders. even spiderman is not allowed in the house.

      one day when I was about 10-11yo we were driving and I asked my mom why god made spiders so ugly.(we were Christian then)
      and she said “they’re not ugly to other spiders”.
      moral is; beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  9. Four tributes to Maya Angelou (first 3 are from Oprah’s page above):
    Robin: Maya Angelou was a Mentor to all of us. We didn’t have to touch her hand or look directly into her eyes from a few feet away to feel and learn from the awe-inspiring soul beauty that she embodies. Such was her power. My heart breaks for this world’s loss; even as it exults in Heaven’s gain today.

    Deborah:
    Her presence in this world has left an indelible imprint upon it, that will not soon be forgotten by those who were fortunate to have known her & by all the rest who knew of her & felt her message through the poems she wrote & the words of wisdom she shared. May she rise with the angels into heaven’s everlasting light, shining her love down upon the world she loved & has left behind.

    Christiane :
    At the end of a song we don’t clap because it is over. We clap because it was beautiful. Today we applaud in standing ovation that beautiful song called Ms Maya Angelou!

    Darlene:
    Today, the world loss a beautiful soul…the ever soulful, breathtaking, beacon of light…the wonderful, Maya Angelou…my spiritual grandmother! Though I’ve never met her but I loved her like no other. She made me see myself and accepted that I am a Phenomenal Woman and above all crisis…I Rise! Thank you, Maya….may your beautiful thought provoking words linger in our heart for eternity! Rest In Perfect Peace in our Father’s Kingdom!

    Nathan Hatch, president of Wake Forest University:
    “Maya Angelou has been a towering figure — at Wake Forest and in American culture. She had a profound influence in civil rights and racial reconciliation. We will miss profoundly her lyrical voice and always keen insights.”

        There rings a melody with Heaven’s harmony;

        There rings a melody of love.
