Maya Angelou, the renowned poet, author and civil rights activist, has died, officials in her hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, told NBC News. The author of the celebrated autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” was 86 years old.
Her death comes less than a week after Angelou announced she would not attend the 2014 MLB Beacon Awards Luncheon, where she was to be honored, citing “health reasons.” Last month, she also canceled an event in Fayetteville, Arkansas, because she was recovering from an “unexpected ailment” that left her hospitalized.

Wow! she must of told my mom that too bc my mom told me if you want a friend you have to be a friend.
and the best advice my mom gave me was basically beauty is in the eye of the beholder. but she said it in a way that shocked me into believing it and living by it forever.
I have a problem w spiders. when I was a kid I stepped on one and I cant tell you what I saw because I blacked out a little. but ever since I’ve been horrified of spiders. even spiderman is not allowed in the house.
one day when I was about 10-11yo we were driving and I asked my mom why god made spiders so ugly.(we were Christian then)
and she said “they’re not ugly to other spiders”.
moral is; beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
