Confirmed : Jews told to register with pro-Russian forces in the East Ukraine or face deportation. America reacts first

The Jews need to get out of the Ukraine as soon as possible. Israel and the U.S. should arrange for that. It will be hard leaving their country and starting over, but we cannot have another Holocaust.

  3. It is obscene. It’s ugly and a reminder of the hate that spread across Europe in the 1940’s. The directive in the Ukraine is that if the Jews do not register, then will be deported and their property seized by the government. Deported to where? They don’t say. How to identify them as Jews if they don’t register? They don’t say.

      • I read the Night trilogy…not an easy read, was it, Xena?

I also read Elie Wiesel’s “Souls on Fire: Portraits and Legends of Hasidic Masters” which is absolutely outstanding!

Here is a description of the book:

“In Souls on Fire: Portraits and Legends of Hasidic Masters, Elie Wiesel reenters, like an impassioned pilgrim, the universe of Hasidism. “When I am asked about my Jewish affiliation, I define myself as a Hasid, ” writes the author. “Hasid I was, Hasid I remain”.

Yet Souls on Fire is not a simple chronological history of Hasidism, nor is it a comprehensive book on its subject. Rather, Elie Wiesel has captured the essence of Hasidism through tales, legends, parables, sayings, and deeply personal reflections. His book is a testimony, not a study. Hasidism is revealed from within and not analyzed from the outside.

“Listen attentively, ” Elie Wiesel’s grandfather told him, “and above all, remember that true tales are meant to be transmitted – to keep them to oneself is to betray them”.

As a critic appearing on the front page of The New York Times Book Review has written, “The judgment has been offered before: Elie Wiesel is one of the great writers of this generation”.

Wiesel does not merely tell us, but draws, with the hand of a master, the portraits of the leaders of the movement that created a revolution in the Jewish world. Souls on Fire is a loving, personal affirmation of Judaism, written with words and with silence. The author brings his profound knowledge of the Bible, the Talmud, Kabbala, and the Hasidic tale and song to this masterpiece, showing us that Elie Wiesel is perhaps our generation’s most fervid “soul on fire”.

Elie Wiesel opens his book with a Hasidic tale after which he writes:

“This tale is characteristic because it contains most of the basic elements of Hasidism. The fervent waiting, the longing for redemption; the erratic wanderings over untraveled roads; the link between man and his Creator, between the individual act and its repercussions in the celestial spheres; the importance of ordinary words; the accent on fervor and on friendship too; the concept of miracles performed by man for man. It is also characteristic because it may well…not be true.”

    • Unfortunately, it appears that both rebel factions are anti-Semitic and this is very likely why neither of them could gain power.in a democracy. That us why encouraging the overthrow of democratically elected governments no matter how unpopular, is a foolish idea.

The people of Ukraine elected the least offensive candidate-just as we do in America. Because the oligarchs never allow any faction that is for the people to get close to power. We toppled that democracy for completely idiotic reasons at great expense.

We needed to reign in the alphabet soup and black ops shadow government right after they murdered our democratically elected President. They have had 50 years to entrench themselves and gain power and now they act with impunity as tho we have no choice.

I think they are wrong but I cannot imagine how we are to stop them unless there really are hidden elements on the side of the people or divine intervention is an active possibility. I’m not ruling out either one:-)

      • Wellll…actually, the elected leader of the Ukraine did upset the people there quite a bit when he turned away from an agreement with the EU, as he went back on his election promise there. I can totally understand the protesters in Kiev. That being said, I’m sure there are some unsavory elements among those protesters, although a lot of that is exaggerated by Russian propaganda.

However, I do agree with you that there is an oligarchy in our own society that should get taken down and probably isn’t about to. Overturning Citizens United would be a good start….but that truly would require divine intervention.

        • I wasn’t saying the elected leader was a good guy:quite the opposite. I said that there and here, only those individuals thoroughly under the control of and approved by the global oligarchy are allowed to run for election effectively.

Our system easily controls this thru the dual party dominant structure but the exact same problem exists in many countries.
Occasionally a country outwits them or places enough pressure thru protests to get a truly fair election result but this is rare-and when it does occur the oligarchs make sure to spend a lot promoting the idea that the one fair election was actually the rigged one-even when it is monitored and documented by unbiased international observation as in Venezuela recently.
          The oligarchs are not stupid.
They use sophisticated psychological modeling to manipulate the electorate. Sometimes it is to obtain votes in a certain direction, others to encourage complacency over the obvious manipulation of government and others to elicit outrage and protests-which can then be infiltrated by operatives who use violence as was done in Ukraine, to topple a democracy instead of force a fair set of changes or new election according to the actual will of the people.
If I sound like a nut to you which I imagine I may if you haven’t encountered this before, read up on the Monroe doctrine and the history of South America and Central America. Africa and Asia as well but it’s easiest to see in South America because not only were American actions fairly obvious and well documented they have been much dissected and discussed.
Eduardo Galeano’s Open Veins of Latin America is good. Anything by Chomsky or Howard Zinn will help but Rogue Nation is great for this area.

Bush and Obama have upset us quite a lot with various insane policies from the spying to the drones, the TPP and other trade agreements-we had protesters attacked and harmed snd even assassination plots against Occupy leaders with full government collusion. Would we feel good about foreign agents shooting people and instigating a “regime change” so that some of the most radical and out of line with mainstream views groups were able to take power?
There were tea party groups with supposed assistance from insiders in our own military planning exactly such a coup here a few years ago.

The psyop trick is to make you think if Russia is bad then those who oppose Russia are good. Sometimes there are a lot if criminals fighting one another while the good people are caught in the crossfire.

This appears to have been the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and Ukraine. It’s not comfortable to realize that sometimes maybe often; there are no good guys only different groups with negative agendas struggling for power and control.
Democracy at least forces them to keep that struggle tame with less violence, chaos and death for the regular people.
Also that agreement with Western Europe is not nearly as good for the people of Ukraine as the western corporate controlled media make it sound.
Colonization steals resources while worsening the lives of the native people. This doesn’t just work on brown people-it is being done to white folks all over Eastern Europe and with TPP and such it’s becoming pretty standard here in the USA as well.

That agreement looks a lot more like colonization than it should if it were actually going to benefit the regular people instead of the criminals in charge.
I don’t know that Russia has stupendously better plans for them but that’s exactly the problem as it has been for indigenous people since Rome. When Empire (s) fight over resources the average person is considered an “externality”: ie our benefit or suffering are considered irrelevant to the bottom line of the corporations and their puppet governments.

          Like

          • Well, I would never claim that the EU or Western Europe are perfect, or that their agreements with any country are perfect. However, being part of the EU has had huge benefits for my native country (Poland) and it makes me nervous that Russia taking over the Ukraine would bring it that much closer to Poland again. Again, I’m not saying that Russia is all bad and the West is all good, but if given the choice, it’s the West hands down for quality of life in Poland.

And I would quibble with the idea that the people in the Kiev demonstrations are radical and out of touch with the country’s mainstream. I see a lot of those ideas as having been planted by media outlets like Russia Today.

While I may not be willing to go all the way with you on your ideas, I do not see you as a nut at all and continue to agree with you about our own problems with oligarchy here in the States.

I personally believe the conflict between Russia and the West, communism vs capitalism and all that was deliberately manufactured by the Olivetti maintain power when the people began rebelling.
They made sure to implement socialism as a totalitarian caricature of its original intent to impress everyone with how awful it was.
Emma Goldman left Russia when the Bolsheviks took charge of the revolution and she was a passionate socialist/anarchist.
The reason I believed that the people who gained power in the US sponsored coup in Ukraine are right wing psychos is not Russian news but knowing how my own government operates.
Like al-cia-da our black ops programs only ever choose to work with, support and give money to complete nutjobs. Not only are nutjobs easier to manipulate, they also make great cartoon bad guys when we have to go back and take more direct military control of the resources.
Tge protesters were mostly not as far as I could tell impressed with the idiots who got power.
The majority sound like Occupy Ukraine style. They know all about what I’m talking about but I doubt once the shooting started the peaceful educated protesters had much say in anything.

The color revolutions have been using real protesters with real issues they are working to see addressed to topple stable countries and deliver power to fringe groups.
This is all old hat for the US- they did the exact same song and dance in Iran in the 50’s, all over Latin America from the 1900’s until their current attempts in Venezuela.
Unfortunately for the right wing jackbooters in my own country, the oligarchs *use* us to enforce their order but that in no way means we are special or will get special privileges.
It appears that the excrement is about to encounter the wind machine here in America and we will be suffering the blowback from all the dirty work our government has done for the 1%.

          • I understand most people are not exposed to the details of international politics or just how very much our government is deeply (and illegally) involved in other nations internal affairs. It’s difficult to face because it is so absurd and evil but it’s also extremely well documented. A good start if you are interested is Noam Chomsky Rogue Nation. Open Veins of Latin America by Eduardo Galeano is a beautifully written book that also conveys a good bit.
I did my graduate work in this area and it is so awful it literally contributed to an old fashioned “nervous breakdown”. If there is a nation on Earth that the US has not, or is not currently interfering with their internal politics it is only because that nation is extremely resource poor and non strategically located or it has a very strong protector or patron government such as China.
Even our own allies like Brazil and Germany were horrified at the revelations about our spying on their leaders phone calls.
The interference in Ukraine currently is widely known and discussed outside of American mainstream media. Here on WordPress Lada Ray/ Futurist Trendcast blog is written by a scholar with direct experience living in that area.
Also, the oligarchs that have turned our country into their private mercenary force were well established in other countries before the US existed. The British East India corporation is a great example from history of corporations directing a nations military actions to its advantage.

Russia fell into a period of oligarchs and mafia wresting much control of the nation after the US black operations to disintegrate the USSR were successful in the early 1990’s. Judging by news reports they did not disappear under Putin tho apparently some support him and others have attempted to encourage his ouster.

The simplest way to understand politics is “follow the money”. Everything political relates to competition whether fair or criminal, over resources and the money they engender and represent. Wars for oil, for water, for gold, for land etc. There has never been a war over anything else-no matter what the propaganda may say.

When the majority recognize the facts and cease being easily led by propaganda and trickery, the whole criminal house of cards will collapse. Unfortunately most people prefer the comfort of denial or simply not knowing to the discomfort of facing the really unpleasant realities behind the neatly portrayed facade of modern society:-/

            Like

          • Well, I follow international news pretty closely and from a variety of sources, so I wouldn’t say denial or not knowing is a problem. “Follow the money” certainly applies to a lot of aspects of life in our world.

Sorry to hear that this led to a nervous breakdown for you. Hope that you managed to see a silver lining to things…

          • In the end it is always for the best. I just couldn’t accept that the existing system created by colonization and maintained by greed and in group power and manipulation was not only global and long entrenched but so effective at subterfuge and manipulation that it was essentially invisible to the majority in the “first world”. Despite it being maintained through incredible brutality, near constant violence and cruelty which was widely decried by scholars like Chomsky and writers in the areas most openly affected like Africa, South America, Asia and the Pacific.
The casual dismissal of the deaths of 5 million Iraqi children due to unrepaired water treatment facilities because of the sanctions by a World Bank official as an “externality” drove home to me that this system is designed to control the majority and concentrate resources upward into the hands of a very small number of people globally.
Prior to the many thousands of pages of reading I did in this area for graduate school, I too followed international news from various sources even the antiglobalization movement. But until I saw the documents directly produced by organizations like the World Bank, NATO, WTO and UN I had not grasped that it is a single heavily interlocked and controlled system.
As an activist for the environment and human rights it was an overwhelming discovery.
I could no longer see any way my participation in the system as a scholar or worker at UN could create real positive change.
            It’s designed to prevent that.
But that realization opened my awareness to the many disenfranchised by this globalised control system and it’s constant military enforcement who were finding ways to create new systems that will take it’s place when it fails as it must.
Despite the interconnected global oligarchy who disrupt so many lives with their constant jockeying for power, control and resources there is an ever growing network of local groups and international coalitions who are circumventing the system to meet peoples needs and create local resilience against both the insane top down hierarchy in place and it’s ongoing violence and oppression especially regarding resource extraction and the natural disasters and changes associated with climate change.
While so much horror is ongoing as easily visible in instigated conflicts in Ukraine, Syria, Venezuela, Iraq, Afghanistan, multiple areas in Africa and the Pacific, as well as resource extraction related direct violence in Canada, South America and elsewhere I have hope that the people will overcome the hierarchy.
It’s also important to realize that just 12 corporations control most commerce globally. They either own or have controlling interest in the majority of companies doing business worldwide.
And just 4 of them dominate the field of media. Meaning that the majority of news on Earth is controlled by a very small group.
I’ve been disappointed to see how many bloggers simply echo and repeat news from sources I know to be agenda driven and my local newspaper which once won multiple awards for it’s independent journalism (it’s founder created the Poynter Institute and was dedicated to keeping the true duty of media in exposing truth) has of late run nearly all stories that are obviously slanted and missing important information unflattering to US interests.
I am grateful for the many people who continue to work to share facts the corporations and their heavily influenced governments and agencies like NATO want hidden and ignored.
It’s telling that they went to such lengths to shut down Indymedia but as soon as it was hobbled Assange and his group started releasing leaked secrets so I don’t think the censorship efforts of having few corporations controlling most media will work long term.
It’s hard for most people to face how bad it really is-or how globally interconnected. No one wants to believe it when they first encounter the evidence but enough people are aware, like Chomsky who has citations that fill half his books that it will eventually be common knowledge.
I’m always surprised tho at the huge discrepancies between news stories and facts. Between the things documented by scholars like Chomsky and Galeano, the facts reported by indigenous witnesses at the resource extraction wars and the manipulated, stripped and dumbed down fragments that actually appear in news sources.
It’s been prevalent for so long mainstream newsc rarely ever prints any story with the level of background, detail and facts that were expected in all news decades ago-and even then the real dirty tricks and underhanded dealings of governments were rarely exposed.

          • I don’t expect everyone to agree with me or one another on what the facts mean. My passionate advocacy is primarily for people to realize how much the information is controlled and manipulated. To become aware of the agendas that drive what facts are shown or reported, and which are hidden, suppressed or avoided and why.
I was horrified not only by the incredible human suffering caused by these structures of control but in some ways even more by the complacency with which the majority accept and defend the manipulation they are subject to in order to maintain the status quo.
I don’t have answers to all of what is wrong. People will gave vastly different ideas of those answers rooted in their own ideology and belief system but imho we cannot solve anything until a significant number of people become aware of how their beliefs, ideas and choices are being manipulated by the power of money, media control and misdirection.
I don’t believe any one ideology will be the key but rather the majority having full access to the facts of present and historical actions globally that they can then use to formulate effective responses. I believe once this occurs and people realize how their disagreements are strongly encouraged by these same systems in order to keep us divided and controlled we will overcome those divisions and create syncretic solutions that utilize many perspectives and honor the rights and needs of all instead of only certain groups.
I’m confident that once aware of the extent of manipulation most people will be as shocked and horrified as I have been ;disgust with this subterfuge and criminal behaviour is likely to drive people back toward respect for all, and understanding that we the people globally are on the same “side” no matter what political ideology we individually espouse.
The problem is that it is so extensive that without going out of one’s way rather a lot to do deeper research it is not readily apparent.
I’m not the best communicator so apologies if my attempts to convey this appeared rude or argumentative; my intentions are only to share what they I discovered thru many years of research not to convince you or anyone of any particular perspective on it. Just that so much is hidden, ignored, manipulated as far as global news and information and that it is done with an agenda not favorable to the majority of humanity.
I’m perpetually re-evaluating because I am only extremely conversant with the manipulation of the corporations and oligarchs in the West. Not being very proficient yet in Oriental languages including Russian I am subject to judging information based on what I do know a lot about-but try to remain aware of the deficiencies in my knowledge. I do not know enough about the internal politics or agendas of Russia and China for instance to discern what may be driven by specific manipulation based on that.
Thank you for discussing this with me. I learn much from reading other educated bloggers and commenters thoughts and ideas.

“But the Jewish community statement said relations between the Jews of Donetsk and their neighbors were amicable, and the self-proclaimed head of the “People’s Republic,” Denis Pushilin, denied any connection to the fliers.

“Pushilin told CNN the handwriting on the flier wasn’t his, and the title attached to his name was not one he uses. It wasn’t clear who had distributed the leaflets, but the chief rabbi of nearby Dnipropetrovsk said, “Everything must be done to catch them.”

“It’s important for everyone to know its not true,” said the rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki. “The Jews of Donetsk will not do what the letter says.”

” Ukraine prime minister vows to punish people behind fliers ordering Jews to register”

        http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/04/20/ukraine-prime-minister-vow-to-find-and-punish-people-behind-anti-jewish/

“Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Sunday he’s going to find and punish “the bastards” distributing leaflets ordering Jews in eastern Ukraine to register with pro-Russian separatists.

“I made a clear statement and urged Ukrainian military and security forces and Ukrainian Department of Homeland Security urgently to find these bastards and to bring them to justice,” Yatsenyuk told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The leaflets, which have been distributed recently in the eastern city of Donetsk, also order Jews to pay a fee and declare all property holdings.

Russian separatists in Ukraine have denied responsibility, suggesting the documents were spread as a ploy to vilify their side in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Still, Jewish leaders say the fact that the pamphlets were even distributed, some 70 years after the Holocaust, has a chilling effect on Jewish communities worldwide.

Also on Sunday, Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States, condemned the distribution of the leaflets.

“I have no information on who has done it,” he told “Fox News Sunday.” “But it is certainly an outrageous provocation.”

The Obama administration has already denounced the leaflets, with Secretary of State John Kerry calling them “grotesque” and “beyond unacceptable.”

The documents reportedly were handed out early last week by masked men holding the Russian Federation flag. The leaflets were distributed as Jewish worshippers were leaving synagogues at the start of Passover, according to accounts first reported by Israeli media.

The pamphlets were stamped by the Donetsk People’s Republic and had the name of Russian separatist Denis Pushilin on them, but Pushilin also says he and his supporters had nothing to do with their creation and distribution.

        • It appears to have been an extremely clumsy attempt at false flagging the resistance as dangerous to Jewish citizens. Funny how evil attempts so often bring about exactly the opposite effect. Instead of convincing people to be afraid and hate Russia, it instead raised awareness of the potential for such egregious limitations of human rights to go on in our current world. Which of course they do go on in many countries against varied ethnicities.
It is a good sign, I think, that everyone responded to this with horror. Where I live violence against certain groups is still justified and defended by even people in our state legislature. I have read on the blog Black Women of Brazil that the same insane practice of justification and defense by pundits and government officials goes on there when the victims are non-white.

So we have by interference in another country’s internal politics created a completely monstrous situation of right wing racist idiots running Ukraine versus right wing racist idiots who favor Russia rebelling and creating civil war with violence, terror and chaos for everyone there.
when minding our own business would have left a stable democracy that wasn’t doing what NATO wanted but was internally stable and safe.

If there were some way to reign in the US and Israeli governments by our own citizens it would contribute greatly to the safety of people on Earth-Jewish and otherwise.

Unfortunately, not only do our governments persist in creating misery for others to pursue neoliberal agendas that are not shared or approved of by a majority of their citizens. They also threw away all credibility in addressing such racist profiling and genocidal policies by creating and allowing the genocide of Palestine.

My one hope is the people are already uniting across borders and have been against ALL such monsters whether they are in Africa, Israel/Palestine, Russia and Ukraine or anywhere else such vicious insanity raises its ugly head.

I fear the nightmares we created in Libya and Syria are what is supposed to happen in Ukraine. I do not believe Putin will allow it to descend that far but I’m also not sure what his attitude and abilities are in regard to Jewish citizens of Ukraine.

When we can no longer depend on our leaders we must depend on the people. If enough of us focus our intentions and prayers on a safe, peaceful, just outcome for all people in Ukraine I believe it can and will have an effect.

We must abandon fear tho as it is the emotion used to control us. Our emotions and intentions can make a difference but we need to focus positive emotions such as love, compassion and caring for all.

I don’t believe the majority in Ukraine are racist or would stand for that. It is only one of two possible scenarios. One it is a false flag to allow NATO to use military intervention on Russia’s border bringing us WW3 or it is a small group like our tea party with similar racist paranoid views using the chaos to try and achieve their sick agenda.

I think it’s most likely a combination of the two.

If we don’t allow the manipulation to control us, we block the negative agenda. The more people who become aware of the back room secret dealing that leads to this insanity the faster it ceases to work and comes to an end.

As I think of these words and our duty to be aware and stand up against evil, I think of how this was NOT done in the past.

IMHO, history and the world needs to be AWARE and ACKNOWLEDGE that those who called themselves Christians who took part in heinous crusades and committed rampages of genocide, were NOT true Christians. A TRUE Christian has love in his/her heart and does LOVING, kind acts.
