Good morning caterpillars, moths, butterflies, and all creatures great and small.

ButterflyPeace396Blue

With the snow melting, I’m going to be outside extending my sidewalk and clearing the deck of remaining snow.  (I can use a vacation in Hawaii.)

What’s on your mind?

    • We need more commercials like this by other companies to reflect the beautiful world of diversity that we live in.

May those that resist have a change of heart.

The world we know was built on skills but that alone don’t count.
Without the sweat and toil of mine; it wouldn’t be worth a dime.
You got to live and give share and care. really put some love in the air.
When your neighbor’s down try to pick him up. nobody can live in despair.

Everybody let’s sing sing sing… (let freedom ring)
    (everybody let’s sing sing sing…)
Let’s all pitch in to do our thing make a better world to live in.
Everybody let’s sing sing sing… (let freedom ring)
    (everybody let’s sing sing sing…)
Let’s all pitch in and do our thing make a better world to live in.

Society has no priority we’re all one part of a whole.
When people scream and shout you hafta hear `em out. everybody is a beautiful soul.
You gotta pull together go hand in hand. you really got to do your best.
Wouldn’t it be a perfect sight to see: the whole world filled with happiness.
Everybody let’s sing sing sing… (let freedom ring)
    (everybody let’s sing sing sing…)
Let’s all pitch in to do our thing make a better world to live in.
Everybody let’s sing sing sing… (let freedom ring)
    (everybody let’s sing sing sing…)
Let’s all pitch in to do our thing make a better world to live in.
    Everybody let’s sing sing sing…
    (everybody let’s sing sing sing…)
Let’s all join hands and do our thing make a better world to live in.

What can you do? What can you say? When you see someone being bullied, speak up, reach out or go find help! “Speak Up, Reach Out” is an anti-bullying song video to help young BYSTANDERS know what to do – from the elementary school play, “The Bully & The Bystanders” created by our friends at See The Wish/where education is entertaining!

  13. Yahoo news is reporting today that the FL legislature is in the process of voting to EXPAND SYG:

On Thursday, a National Rifle Association-backed bill to expand the state’s self-defense statutes sailed through a key state House committee with bipartisan support. It is expected to pass the full chamber. …it amends “stand your ground” to include the threat of force, not just the use of force itself

Of course, this goes on top of the “no duty to repeat” and “it’s irrelevant whether the defendent was actually in danger as long as he believed he was in danger” parts. So, if this expansion had been in effect during the Dunn trial, Dunn wouldn’t have needed to claim that Jordan exited the car, or even that Jordan brandished a gun. He could just have said, “He said he was going to kill me, and he sure seemed dead serious about it, and i believed he meant it, so I figured he had to have some kin d of weapon available to carry out that threat, and i wasn’t going to wait around to find out the hard way, so I shot him before he could do anything to me.” (Kinda like, ‘We’re going to go to war with Iraq and kill 10s of thousands of civilians because we’re not sure their military doesn’t have WMD.)

I’m going to go throw up now.

I am so upset with all of the murders at schools, on the streets, kidnappings, and violence in general. God help us………these peo[ple are really sick, and it is escalating daily.

    • Whonoze,
Thanks for your comment. It helped me. When I first heard about the expansion, it was represented as a “Bill”, and I thought in terms of Marissa Alexander and Michael Giles and statutory sentencing. You have brought out the other side of this as to how it could be used to the advantage of those abusing the law.

      Like

    • Actually, the “threat of force” refers to something that Marissa Alexander did…..she “threatened” with a warning shot.

      From this linked article:
      http://news.yahoo.com/florida-lawmakers-vote-to-expand–stand-your-ground–law-200940342.html

On Thursday, a National Rifle Association-backed bill to expand the state’s self-defense statutes sailed through a key state House committee with bipartisan support. It is expected to pass the full chamber. The “threatened use of force” bill would most likely have prevented Alexander from receiving her lengthy sentence, because it amends “stand your ground” to include the threat of force, not just the use of force itself.

As the law is interpreted by some prosecutors now, someone who fires a shot in self-defense and misses is less protected by the law than someone who fires a shot in self-defense and hits his or her target, according to John Banzhaf, a professor of public interest law at George Washington University. That’s because “stand your ground” laws only explicitly protect the successful use of force, not the threat of force, in self-defense. A person who threatens to shoot someone in self-defense is also more at fault than a person who actually shoots and kills an attacker, thanks to the laws.

I’ll bet there will be a surge in tourism in Florida. Having thoughts of offing your loved one, a nice romantic weekend to rekindle those loving thoughts. “We were taking a walk on the beach, and I confessed I had an affair, and he said he was going to kill me. He has a temper, and I was so scared officer. We were standing on a cliff, and when he tried to grab my hand I tripped him and he fell off the cliff.”
