          • Supposedly, mindyme, hollow points are “safer” if being used where there are other people around. A regular bullet can go through and hit someone else whereas a hollow-point stays within the “targeted” individual because it breaks up.

IMO I think he might just take the stand to explain himself. I don’t know the jury makeup, but if he sees it is a jury of his “true peers” (heavy sarcasm implied). People like him think he did no wrong, that the side of Stand your ground will prevail. Even though he did not use this defense, he repeated all the catch phrases in his police interview and had his girlfriend repeat the same. Problem for him is loud music and having a cussing match with a 17 year old is not grounds for “fear of my life” line. JMO

      • Dunn cannot get a self-defense instruction before the jury unless he testifies that he shot in self-defense. His attorney’s opening and closing statements is not testimony. The State was smart this time, not showing the jury the video of Dunn’s statements to police.

      • Thanks, guys!
That would be very interesting! From what I’ve heard and read (not a whole lot) he sounds like a hot-head that might just “lose it” if the right buttons are pushed on cross-exam.

something to do with how people react in shootings…. flight …

    Like

    • Yeah – and if it’s about how people react “in” and/or “after” shootings, then I’m not seeing how that’s relevant to Dunn’s defense. The only “shooting” was by Dunn, so post-shooting trauma would be due to – and after – Dunn’s crime. (??) Unless it’s to explain why Dunn went on the run and into “hiding”?

Guess we just have to wait and see.

        @groans

        Ok…..
if this so called doctor testifies that the reason for the murderer to leave the scene of the shooting is because of trauma, then the same can be said about the Durango leaving the scene and going away from the shooting. The problem with his lawyer using this testimony will be that the Durango came back to the “Gate gas station and DUNN left and never came back, no call to police, had pizza, walked the f**kin dog, watched a movie, went on the highway for 2 plus hours and went home. That behavior is consistent with a psychopathic behavior. I am not a psychologist but I love my Criminal Minds series. 🙂

We shall see what tomorrow brings…..

“Proceeds from the new fight will go to support the Trayvon Martin Foundation, an organization founded in memory of the teen shooting victim gunned down by Zimmerman in February 2012.”

I’m pretty sure that Trayvon’s parents want NOTHING to do with the proceeds. What charity would? No matter HOW hard up a charity might be, who would want money under those circumstances? It might be different if GZ said he is genuinely sorry and he wants to pay Trayvon’s parents back somehow – but I’m pretty sure this is not how they would want it. But what do I know. I am so disgusted over this.

  48. I can’t believe Mr. Davis had to take stand. Cruel beyond but it destroyed murderers case. It made it very real, the grief this poor father and Jonathan’s friends was feeling. The kids in the car were so composed, I didn’t get a real feeling for how devastated they were. Mr. Davis put it right in front of jury!

Corey Strolla has to be the worse attorney ever. He does state’s job over and over again and asked questions that elicit testimony against his client.

Dunn stared a hole in Mr. Davis when he left and he stared straight at monitor of Jonathan’s dead body’s. You could see the monitor, they didn’t show it out of sight as they did in Trayvon’s case and Dunn just stared straight at pictures.

Dunn’s friends are sparse , some man he worked with years ago and son and daughter he’s seen 3 times in 15 years.

His own parents aren’t testifying for him and no current friends.

I believe this verdict will be returned in record time.

Dale Carson, a jax. Defense attorney, says he has to take the stand. He will implode in record time.

  49. In Strolla’s opening he went down the “..the state will have you believe a JFK magic bullet theory”

Hmmm….I saw nothing of that sort and in fact the forensics pretty much show Duhhhnn needs a magic bullet theory, not the other way around.

He also stated the state had no evidence and Mr. Guy’s statements were not evidence, not that anybody on the prosecution said they were.

Then Strolla alluded to his statements being factual and so far I haven’t seen anything that remotely resembles a competent defense.

  50. So sad and so unnecessary. The Davis family has been thrown in to a part of hell that should be reserved for the Michael Dunns of the world. I sit here watching and waiting, praying that justice is somewhat satisfying for the Davis family, unlike the Martin family. Jacksonville can be a very inviting place, full of friendly people willing to help and then there is the UNDERBELLY that hide away and act like cowards while harming the defenseless. I love and live this city and am consistently disappointed by JSO and their lack of detail when young people r gunned down. Always looking as to what the victim(s) did that put them in the wrong place at the wrong time.

My son was robbed, shot 7 times and left for dead. Our family has been grilled disrespected and left out of any so-called progress. This happened 1/29/12 to my family, with no resolution. I am so glad someone wrote down the tag #, the Davis family no doubt would have been told, like my family, if u hear anything, let us know. Stop letting our children, black or white, pay for someone elses disregard for human life. Put those people without values for others and apparently only for themselves, under or at least inside that jailhouse in tje heart of this city and stop punishing the victims and families with your innuendos and profiling justice.

    • Floridadjor,
      Welcome to Blackbutterfly7.

I’m so sorry to hear about your son.

My thoughts on who LE esteems as victims goes back to Jeffrey Dahmer. His last victim got away from him and was running in his underwear, bloody, when he ran into 2 cops. Jeffrey, following him, told the cops that they were lovers having a spat. The police did nothing to help that kid and Jeffrey took him back to his apartment and murdered him.

Any person can have prejudices, but those prejudices should never be so strong as to dictate who deserves to die.

  51. In this case, the police did an excellent job. The witness who was able to memorize Dunn’s tag enabled them to immediately put our a BOLO and he was surrounded with Swat the next morning. But, there were many witnesses and the camera inside the Minnie mart. They even had a helicopter examine the roof to counter any defense of the kids had a weapon that they tossed on top of the roof.

Floridadjar, I watch John Welch’s new show ” On The Hunt” and he makes the point that it is up to the family to keep the pressure on via media when a killing goes un solved and is put in cold case files.

If you still follow xena’s blog, you may want to contact the producers of his new show to get some focus on your son’s murder.

So sorry for your son’s murder. Parents should never have to bury their children.
