  2. Two sides to a story

Flipping police officers. I think there should be time limits on PD service to avoid PTSD and other mental problems. And there should be a bottom age limit of at least 25 and the requirement of a BA, a solid psych profile, and probably some other things I haven’t thought of yet!

    • I so agree with you, TwoSides!!

My heart is still aching for Kelly Thomas. And, I pray, pray that he will ultimately receive justice.

I am also upset that the Fullerton police department squelched the protest this last weekend…..such action threatens citizens’ constitutional rights.

    • The retirement systems of most police departments make it to were an officer can consider retirement after 20 years of service. This cop had 27 yrs before retiring. He then went on to work private security for Busch Gardens.

  3. The gun NutZZ are back at it stating id anything, even popcorn was thrown he had the legal right to shoot Oulson.

Wrong….the law is very clear in that you cannot provoke the situation, which he clearly did and he must exercise every avenue of escape, which he did not.

But, hey……it’s Fl, so who knows what will happen.

    • racerodig…..actually the law says this:

      776.013

      (3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

He did not have to escape the situation first BUT the key again is the part of preventing death or great bodily harm to themselves. One of the things the retired cop is saying is that he was hit in the face but he never mentions popcorn. Obviously popcorn will not cause you death or great bodily harm but he is trying, IMO, to set it up saying he thought he was hit with something else.

  4. Life with no chance of parole. When a person is carrying he has a different mindset about himself, the weapon makes you think ahead, to be more calm. This man should never have been allowed a weapon, I know he is a retired officer but he obviously does not have the human intelligence required to carry. Life in prison, no parole This is a case where he must be made an example of. But, my guess is he will get no prison time just probation with the loss of the right to carry anymore.

    • Hi Joseph and welcome to Blackbutterfly7. When I received notification that a comment was waiting approval, I was working on a post about O’Connor’s report. Great minds think alike. 🙂

I guess this proves to me that the support for Piglet wasn’t completely racial in nature since some of the usual suspects are supporting Reeves and attempting to use anything that Oulson did during the confrontation to justify his murder.

What an effed up country we live in.
