Claire Davis Dies From Injuries

Claire Davis, R.I.P.

Claire Esther Davis, the Arapahoe High School student critically wounded on December 13, 2013 in the shooting at the school, has died from her injuries.  Claire, 17, was shot in the head by another student who turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.

She died at 4:29 p.m. Saturday, according to the hospital.  The hospital posted to their Facebook page;

It is with heavy hearts that we share that at 4:29 p.m. this afternoon, Claire Davis passed away, with her family at her side. Despite the best efforts of our physicians and nursing staff, and Claire’s fighting spirit, her injuries were too severe and the most advanced medical treatments could not prevent this tragic loss of life. Claire’s death is immensely heartbreaking for our entire community, our staff and our families.

The Davis family would like to thank everyone who have sent their best wishes and prayers, and are grateful for the kindness and support of the community. They know that you all are mourning with them, and again request privacy during this time of grief.

Information regarding a public celebration of Claire’s life will be announced at a future date. Please feel free to continue to leave cards for the Davis family in the Cards for Claire box, located within the main entrance of the hospital.

On the day of the shooting, Claire was taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital, underwent surgery and remained in a coma.

About 500 classmates held a candlelight vigil Saturday for Davis, who was sitting with a friend near the school library when she was shot. Earlier tonight, another vigil was held for Davis at Shepherd of the Hills Church, near Arapahoe High School.

“We come tonight to pray for her and her family,” said Rev. Bradley Stoltenow. “Father when the doors of Arapahoe High School open, we pray, Lord, that we take back that school.”

Students are planning a special edition of the school newspaper that will honor Claire.

We here at Blackbutterfly7, send our hearts and prayers out to Claire’s family and friends.

I’m not so sorry, just give me more to do in a day…I am puzzled how these folks have so much time to devote to me and what I do daily and live their lives. I don’t have enough hours in a day to be on top of my shit….how do they concern themselves with me AND run their lives?

    Another angel, called above,
her family wept, so filled with love.
They will not see her smiling face,
but pray that they will feel her grace.

With eyes turned toward the heavens high,
they prayed, Dear Lord, please hear our cry…….
This is “your” child, reach out your hand,
please welcome her, to your blessed land.

Our hearts are torn, our spirits low,
our “faith” is strong, so this we “know!”
You’ll give her wings, and let her soar,
and be with you, forever more.

Many prayers for your family and friends Claire.

Rest well in the arms of your Lord until you are with them again.

  12. I know this is off topic and i hope you guys don’t mind. in fact just delete it xena if you’d rather i post it on another page. 🙂

I’ve been trying to figure out what this video is trying to say! for some reason i’m not grasping the time issue here – it’s like an actual mental block i think!
one thing that could be effecting me is i’ve always disregarded the killer’s account of the timeline. especially because i don’t know where Trayvon began running from or in what direction he ran to. that’s been my problem about the *2min* issue. we can’t say Trayvon tried the most direct route once he was frightened enough to run. and it’s always been a problem that the state didn’t make it clear that gz had no motive to tell the truth of which way Trayvon “skipped” so that whole “Trayvon could’ve been home” is just a red herring!

anyway, if anyone would care to watch this again and try to explain what i’m not understanding here, i’d be grateful!
if not, i understand, this isn’t the most pressing issue..and i might be over analyzing this anyway.

  13. Shannon, your comment is okay for posting here. I will address it, and then ask that we continue this on the following:https://blackbutterfly7.wordpress.com/2013/06/22/what-about-that-address/

On that page, I have a video posted based on Zimmerman’s statement of being on Retreat View Circle when told “We don’t need you to do that.” The premise is, since Zimmerman was following Trayvon, and saw Trayvon run down the “T”, why was he at Retreat View Circle when told “We don’t need you to do that”?

The first point that LLMPapa makes in the video you embedded, is that Knox assumes that Trayvon knew George had gotten out of his truck and was following him on foot. That is an incorrect assumption. It is also an assumption that Trayvon or Chad would leave the patio door open. Trayvon had no keys on him. He would have needed to go to the front of Green’s house and either enter by using a code for the garage, or wait for Chad to open the front door. Either way, Trayvon would have needed to enter through the front of the house.

To do that, Trayvon would have needed to walk on Twin Trees Lane. He needed to make sure that the creepy guy in the truck was not coming down that street.

If someone was following you in a vehicle, and you needed to walk from an area with no road to a street, would you first be cautious that the vehicle was not there? (Rachel Jeantel: He said he had lost him.)

When you turn the corner, you find the creepy guy walking towards you.

(Zimmerman: When I walked back towards him, I saw him coming toward me.)

(Rachel Jeantel: He said he saw the guy again.)

What is left to do, or where to go? Turn around and walk to the back of the house again.

(Rachel Jeantel: He said the guy was behind him.)

So yes, Trayvon did reach Green’s home, and he did turn around and walk back to the dog walk, but not because he wanted to confront Zimmerman. It was just the opposite, because Trayvon was trying to get away from Zimmerman. Now, that’s for what Trayvon did. To see what Zimmerman was thinking and did, please watch the video “What About That Address.”

  14. something is going either on my side (browser) or on the blog page, bc when i go to that page with the Address Video there’s no option to post a comment. this has happened before, especially with shelia’s blog. but i saw that video and i hadn’t seen it before but it sure does explain away so much!

Btw, thank you Xena for that explanation! wow, i never heard that before. i gotta let it sink in.

    • Shannon, thanks for letting me know about the comment section on that page. I’ll check the settings. I think that I turned off comments on articles after 90 days. I’ll check and let you know.

Shelia turned off comments on her blog completely because of the harassment. It was taking up too much of her time blacklisting and having proxy IP addresses blocked.

  15. They have to set a fund raiser for the memorial fund (if possible) in some Wendy’s restaurants. Claire was adopted by the Davis family, and Wendy’s is the reason due to the founder was adopted by the Thomas family. We wish her well.
