Open Thread – Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays

It’s the end of the week and four days until Christmas!

Unless something really important deserves its own page, I probably won’t be posting anything soon.  We have freezing rain where I live, so I have to ice skate to the grocery store.  Except, I can’t skate.

Life is Better

Please use this thread to post news announcements, your shopping experience, what’s on the menu, etc.

Keep in mind …

Everything we love

      • I thank you, Xena, for providing all of us a place to discuss important court cases and events as we push for justice and equality.

Thank you especially for your outstanding articles and videos that keep us up to date and help us understand some of the legal points involved in the cases.

    • m1. I so appreciate you and thank you for your support. You’ve opened my eyes to double-standards and inequality, such as the Dooley verdict compared to the Zimmerman verdict.

Peace and joy to you and yours this holiday season and forever.

  8. I am going to a friend’s church tomorrow where they will be celebrating Kwanzaa after the church service 🙂

Carmen asked me to wearing African clothing when we talked on the phone this week.

I will be wearing a shukka, knotted over my shoulder, that a friend’s daughter gave me. Her daughter bought it in Tanzania on her way home from Malawi where she had spent three years in a village helping to set up a farming cooperative.

My skukka looks like the one being worn by the person standing on the left in this photo:

  10. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

“Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!

    • “Family: Pa. girl who got caroling wish has died”

December 25, 2013 14:57 GMT WEST READING, Pa. (AP) —

A terminally ill eastern Pennsylvania girl who received support from thousands of Christmas carolers over the weekend has died. Family spokesman Christopher Winters says 8-year-old Delaney Brown of West Reading “passed away quietly with her loving family by her side” early Christmas morning. He says the family is requesting privacy now “to celebrate their daughter’s life and to mourn her loss.”

Delaney, nicknamed Laney, was diagnosed in May with a rare form of leukemia. Thousands gathered outside her home Saturday night to fulfill her wish for a huge holiday singalong. An update posted on the “Team Laney” Facebook page says, “My heart breaks right now. Our little angel on earth earned her pink glittery angel wings in heaven. … I miss her so much already.”

What you do is post the URL to a photo that is online. Make sure the size of the photo is not too large but will fit in a comment box. With online photos, you get the true size as you see it, so that is what you will get in the comment box.

The rest is up to me. I take the URL and on the administrative side of the blog, post it as an image, update the comment, and WALLA!!!
