On December 14, 2012, 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot twenty children and six adult staff members in a mass murder at Sandy Hook Elementary School in the village of Sandy Hook in Newtown, Connecticut. 

Before driving to the school, Lanza shot and killed his mother Nancy at their Newtown home. As first responders arrived, he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

It was the second deadliest mass shooting by a single person in American history, after the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, and the second deadliest mass murder at a U.S. elementary school, after the 1927 Bath School bombings in Michigan.

The incident prompted renewed debate about gun control in the United States, and a proposal for new legislation banning the sale and manufacture of certain types of semi-automatic firearms and magazines with more than ten rounds of ammunition.

    mine too, my heart also hurts. We cling to this ‘right’ to be armed to the teeth. We say with our (in) actions that we don’t really mind this kind of thing happening. We’re not willing to change any thing to keep this happening.

    My heart goes out to the community of Sandy Hook.

    It is so hard for me to come here and post a comment.

    I ache so much for the victims and their loved ones. It is so heartbreaking to see their precious faces in the photos knowing the terror and suffering they endured before they themselves were cut down by the bullets and lost their lives.

    I send my love and prayers to all of their loved ones who SHOULD be celebrating Christmas with their precious ones gone too soon because our congress and states refuse to do ALL that needs to be done with gun laws.
