Jonathan Manalo, Zimmerman Witness, Writes Book

Jon Manalo

Jonathan Manalo

Hat tip to BigBoi.

Jonathan Manalo, the man who took the pictures of the back of George Zimmerman’s head, Trayvon’s body, and Zimmerman’s tactical flashlight, interviewed with Joy-Ann Reid, The Grio.com’s managing editor at MSNBC studios in New York.

Manalo has written a book.  The 13 page book Titled, “With a Flashlight and a Cell Phone…MY TRUTH,” is available on Kindle through Amazon for $9.99.

For the first time, Manalo tells of a situation that happened in November 2011 where George Zimmerman pulled a gun on a UPS delivery man.   Manalo also stated that the Retreat at Twin Lakes was not a high crime area, and that justice was not served.  He believes Zimmerman should have been found guilty.  Very revealing is that Manalo also said during the interview, that Zimmerman lied during his re-enactment when saying he asked him to help restrain Trayvon and that he allegedly spread –out Trayvon’s arms.

    • @Yahtzee. Yes, which is probably why he took the photo of Zimmerman’s tactical flashlight. Manalo probably suspects that something was up with that tactical flashlight. Who fights with a tactical flashlight in their hands unless they’re using it?

      • I so agree with you, Xena.

I had always wondered if he had any LE training to know how important it was to take pictures right away before anything changed and to make a record of Trayvon’s body as he found it.

      • I think you are right about the flashlight. Manalo who supposedly had police training suspected that something was up with the tactical flashlight.Sometimes the smallest things are the most significant. The name of the flashlight is either blurred in most pictures or not shown in others. The name is not mentioned in the discovery as well. I suspect this is not the ordinary tactical flashlight but a stun gun flashlight used by police. Zimmerman wanted to be a cop, it makes since he would carry or hold a flashlight like the police. I read that GZ stated it did not work, was it ever tested? Why carry it then? I don’t buy that at all.

        https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4ZBTD7nxER8ZG9meDlLSnRKTUk/edit?usp=sharing

I feel that he also aimed the flashlight and pointed the gun like police do at the same time, maybe blinding TM.

        https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4ZBTD7nxER8bTJZR2h0ZXB2dzA/edit?usp=sharing

I feel the prosecution/defense made little fuss about the flashlight significance, and that is what they wanted to do. Know one would question it being just a tactical flashlight. Osterman trained George how to shoot and everything, he would definitely make sure he had a working (LED) flashlight or the most effective equipment to disable a “suspect.”

Zimmerman could have tased TM on the shoulder in the front where a scar was found, on the chest were two of the marks did not line up with the gun shot, as well on the back of TM’s hand.

It’s just a theory. But GZ could have also tased the back of his own head.

Zimmerman’s tactical flashlight is the type where a gun clips to the top. My son was issued those type by the military. They don’t tase, but they can be used like a Night Stick.

When discovery revealed the small laceration on the ring-finger of Trayvon’s left hand, I thought it might have been a defensive wound caused by raising his hand to ward off a hit from that flashlight. The laceration on palm side — not knuckle side.

At trial, Bernie did ask a witness if that flashlight could be used as a weapon. The witness answered in the affirmative. I do not now remember who the witness was.

What opens questions about the flashlight is that not once in any of his statements did Zimmerman say where, why or how he dropped it. If we believe Zimmerman, he looked in his pockets for his cell phone while holding on to that flashlight, and also carried it with him as he stumbled 40 feet towards, then past Trayvon before he fell to the ground. And still, the flashlight ended up closer to where Trayvon was living, than the “T.”

Thanks for your comment and the links.

I was thinking the same thing plus Mercury and Jupiter were both in Cancer during the trial which explains the fact that the jury was all female and B37’s biogoted opinions carried the day.

It’s funny that O’Mara wanted to postpone the trial until this month but Mercury has been retrograde since late last month and won’t go direct until this Sunday and has been conjunct Saturn.

Yahtzee, I was hoping that the trial and or the deliberations had lasted longer because Mercury went direct a few days after the verdict.

What I found most troubling was the fact that the news was that the black pastors had been told to ask their congregations to remain peaceful.

That made me believe that the trail was rigged. How did they know that the jury was going to reach a decision so soon—they assumed that it would be either Monday or Tuesday after the end of the trial.

When Mercury is retrograde (appears to be going backwards) our mental processes are confused and foggy. Mercury also rules anything associated with communication ( telephones, internet, faxes, etc.).

Usually any major action performed during a Mercury retrograde has to be redone because it isn’t correct or there was some type of miscommunication.

That’s why most advise that you don’t take any major actions–signing contracts, initiating any major work projects-during Mercury retrogrades.

I have Virgo on the ascendant of my natal chart. Mercury is the ruler of Virgo and since Mercury has been retrograde l have felt as if I have been walking through molasses for the past three weeks.

I have a report that I have completed and is due by next Friday, but I will wait and send it Tuesday after I review it for the fourth time.

If the jury had continued to deliberate through the Mercury retrograde and until Mercury had gone direct maybe (because most of trial testimony took place during the retrograde) the jury could have seen through O’Mara’s lies and manipulations along with B37’s assistance-and would have had a clearer understanding of the evidence and the law governing this trial.

Mercury going direct means clear thought and being able to confer your ideas well and good internet service. LOL

I wonder if O’Mara has Mercury retrograde in his natal chart because his closing statements seemed to have been effective.

Juror B37, Mark O’Mara and Jury Tampering

I wrote that on July 26, 2013 as a theory supported by voir dires and Juror B 37’s now former literary agent’s statement. Fast forward to September 10, 2013 when Maddy appeared on MSNBC after Shellie called the police on Zimmerman. She told Rev. Sharpton about the other women on the jury who were more educated and knew attorneys. Maddy supported my theory.

It would not have mattered if prosecutors had Zimmerman on video saying it wasn’t self-defense. O’Mara had Juror B37 to make sure that any videos and/or recordings of Zimmerman would not be considered during deliberations.

  11. Isn’t it too bad that the prosecutor could not have played the video clip of gz reenactment that pertained to the part involving Manalo and then had Manalo on the witness stand contradict gz’s story?!

Timestamp 3:23 of Joy Reid’s interview with Jonathan Manalo:

MANALO: George Zimmerman basically said that when I got around the corner, he said that I asked him, “Do you want me to call 911?” And, he was insistent that I didn’t need to call 911. He wanted me to help restrain him, and he had his arms out. THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN. He was already on the sidewalk. And, his….Trayvon Marin’s arms were already underneath his body.

REID: So, Your saying that you were never asked to try to restrain the person that was on the ground?

    MANALO: Correct.

REID: And, that you never saw his arms spread out?

    MANALO: Exactly.

      That would have been dynamite!

I always wondered too, why Manalo was not asked why he gave the photo of Zimmerman’s head to ABC as an “exclusive” but did not directly provide it to the defense nor prosecution. Now to be fair, I can understand why the State did not question the chain of command because they wanted the photo of Trayvon’s body with his hands underneath him, and Manalo was the only person who had taken a photo

Another question not asked was of Manalo was if he saw the keychain flashlight. He testified at trial that Zimmerman dropped his cell phone to the ground when the officer arrived. That keychain flashlight could have also been in Zimmerman’s hands and dropped at that time. In none of his statements did Zimmerman say when he dropped either flashlight.

By the State not questioning Manalo about it, the defense argued that Zimmerman dropped it at the “T” when he was (purportedly) punched in the nose. The statements of attorneys are not testimony — they are not evidence. Yet, Juror B37 said on AC360 that she believed the altercation started at the “T” because that is where the keychain flashlight was found.

REID: I’m here with Jonathan Manalo who is one of the key witnesses in the George Zimmerman trial. Johnathan, I know that you prefer to go by Joe, so thank you from us for being here.

Let’s go back actually to the night of the shooting, February 26 two thousand and twelve. Tell me what you remember from that night.

MANALO: um, I was sitting on the floor putting furniture together with my daughter. And from where the T is, where we live on the end unit of our house uh, we heard grunts. We thought it was dog’s barking.

And, so, my wife looked out the window, and she says, “There two guys out there fighting.” I said, “Well, you know, there’s…let them figure it out. They’re grown men. And, then we started hearing some cries for help. And, around that time, I started working my way up from the floor, we heard the gunshot.

REID: Did the cries for help continue after the gunshot?

MANALO: No. As soon as that gunshot went off, it was silence.

REID: Okay. And at some point you went outside?

MANALO: Yes, um, Immediately after that, I went outside. And, George Zimmerman was already on the sidewalk walking towards me. um I had asked him, “What happened, why didn’t you call 911?

um He goes, “No, I just got off the phone with them.” And, I said, “What happened?”

“Well, he was beating me up so I had to defend myself.”

I said, “Okay.” And, as he walks closer to me, he says, “Am I bleeding?” And, I said, “Oh yeah, you’re bleeding.”

He had blood on his face. It wasn’t smeared. It was just like dripping down his face. And, um, he crouched in front of me, turned his back towards me, and I could see the blood on the back of his head.

REID: And, when he turned around to crouch down, was he doing that because he wanted you to take pictures or why do you think he was doing that?

MANALO: I don’t know why. He didn’t know I had a camera with me or my phone with me.

REID: But, at some point, you did take photographs.

MANALO: Yes. I took the photo of him the back of his head.

REID: And, you also saw what you didn’t know at the time, but Trayvon Martin laying on the ground?

MANALO: Right, as I came around the corner towards the scene, I noticed Trayvon Martin laying down, facedown in the grass.

REID: And, you also photographed the body.

MANALO: Yes. After, the police had left with George Zimmerman, I went ahead and took a couple of photos.

REID: About how long was it before the police arrived?

    MANALO: It wasn’t very long….between 5 and 10 seconds.

REID: Now you testified in the trial about your interaction with George Zimmerman, from the time he asked you to call his wife. um, Tell me a little about that and what you think his demeanor was at that time.

MANALO: I was trying to explain to his wife, “Your husband has been involved in a shooting. He’s going to be held for questioning at the Sanford Police Department” and, I mean, basically, before I could even finished, he cuts me off and just says, “Just tell her I shot someone.”

I was like “how can you explain that to someone who you just killed?” And, I didn’t know how to respond to that. Sarcastically, I went, “Well, okay, your husband just shot someone.” I just didn’t know how else to say it.

REID: Right, and then you did that on your phone, not his phone?

MANALO: I did it on my phone.

REID: So you testified in the trial, um, and, for the most part the state attorney Bernie de la Rionda asked you about where you lived, about the location. Did you feel that you really got to tell the full story for what you remember for that night?

    MANALO: No. Not at all.

REID: It was mainly yes or no questions?

    MANALO: Yes, correct.

REID: What would you have wanted to say had you been able to testify more fully.

MANALO: Well, seeing his walk-through interview with the Sanford Police Department. You know, um,

REID: Which you saw later on.

MANALO: Which I saw later on.

George Zimmerman basically said that when I got around the corner, he said that I asked him, “Do you want me to call 911?” And, he was insistent that I didn’t need to call 911. He wanted me to help restrain him, and he had his arms out. THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN. He was already on the sidewalk. And, his arms….Trayvon Martin’s arms were already underneath his body.

    MANALO: Exactly.

REID: You talked a little bit about…..when I spoke with you….about sort of your feelings about having seen all of this, or having seen Trayvon Martin there apparently not moving. um Tell me a little about that.

MANALO: Um. It was something that I had never experienced before and seeing him laying there, and, it was basically just me and him until the first responders came along to try to revive him.

I moved my flashlight around, and one of the things I had said to myself was, “Oh, my god, what have you done?

I don’t see a weapon on the ground. Nothing that would justify really to that moment, self defense.

REID: And you have some law enforcement training.

MANALO: Yes. I went through the police academy many years ago.

I’m not clear on it yet — the State may or may not have known about that UPS employee. If they did, his testimony would have been beneficial during the State’s rebuttal case — which they did not put on.

  14. Thank you for transcribing part 1, that link wouldn’t load. I am so glad this came out before DOJ closes their case as I suspect the UPS worker was of the AA persuasion. Xena, you are right this would be considered hearsay so JM would be stopped from saying it, still maybe the state would have been less inclined to throw the case if they fully realized tubby is a nut case.

Tubby lied about JM at very first interview w/ Det. Singletary ” so is your wife a basket case…what did she think when you didn’t come home.”
Tubby:” oh this nice eye witness called my wife who called my friend, Mark, who was THERE and they were here in 5 minutes”.

I was really intrigued by JM’s statement that BDLR was so focused on the self defense. Why would the state be focused on the defense’s story? And STORY it was as Trayvon had no blood from tubby on him and no DNA from tubby. He may have said something but it was never a fight. Just a crazed thug looking to be a hero with a bad case of roid rage and it just almost worked. Except for a white law student , Kevin Cunningham’ starting a petition on change.org which garnered 2.5 million signatures in one month ( a record). When Trayvon’s parents asked him to turn it over, he did. And when verdict came back not guilty, the group dream defenders organized to roll back SYG in Florida.

It plays out like a Shakespearean tragedy and the results may cause a change in this law. Trayvon’s murder stands for something wonderful.

His legacy DOES include awakening people out of their complacency to seek and demand just laws, equal justice, an end to racial profiling, and a change in the gun laws. May these people who have become political active in this fight always stay energized until CHANGE has come.

There is a reason for this, that I have not yet been able to put my finger on! Just another thing for you to ponder, on the day of the altercation between the pair (including her father), both attorneys showed up in record time, strange that they would take time from their busy schedules to do that for the Zimmerman’s unless the situation was planned? Too many pieces of this puzzle do not fit in the picture… Why? or better yet, why not???

            1. For a year we had heard that she had been at her father’s for dinner that night.

            2. Then we learned that she had had an argument with George and left him Saturday to go to her father’s = Sat. and Sun at her father’s.

            3. Then we finally learned that there might be another woman (which would cause us to speculate that maybe that is what the February 25 argument was about.)

And, yet we heard all those “lovey-dovey” jail phone calls of hers to George and her looking forward to their wonderful future in “heaven” (with all that cash!)

I never dwelled on that part simply because IMO both of the Zimmerman’s were involved/connected in the planning and execution of this crime.. Could it have been Shellie that herded Trayvon back away from the safety of his home and into range of George the murderer? So much happened that night that defies logic that we may never know the real truth of what took place out of sight… I suspect most of the truth will end shortly when one of George Zimmerman’s former supporters takes him down… I predict that he will die before the DOJ can charge him officially… Too many of his supporters have too much to lose if he opens his mouth…

  17. Yahtzee, Good question… I was wondering while listening to the interview, why he was not asked about who other than the PD and Zimmerman were on the scene… That information could have answered quite a few questions.

    • Like where was Osterman….also, which people came out of their townhouses and heard gz saying it was self defense?

      • Also, which police officers did Osterman talk with at the scene?

    • Yahtzee, We were informed of the divorce on Sept. 5, we were told that the divorce had been filed for on that day by Kelly Sims. That was a Thursday, a dated (stamped) copy should have been available the next day (if not that day). The alleged altercation took place on Sept. 13 (Tuesday), with that in mind, if the divorce had/has actually been filed, Sims could have had George Zimmerman served with the filing on that day while he was in the meeting with MOM and Zimmerman, why not? Could it be a way to allow George to hide? The best way to hide some times is in plain sight…. I’ll comment more later, after I have time to process this information… My internal computer is running real short on RAM and the CPU is a little slow, but….

I’m the weird guy that when he walks into a room notices that the wall is a quarter of an inch out of square, or the roof is not level, etc.! A lot of times I ignore the big things, those are hard to mess with, but the little things is where people screw up, they don’t think they are important enough for people to pay attention too!

About the divorce, if George Zimmerman feared for his life, and he should, he would throw a little sand in your eyes to temporarily blind you as to his location. A staged divorce action (taking away from people looking for a couple and instead looking for an individual) then making sure he was seen without his wife in various places nearby in Florida would set the stage for a move (with or with/out his wife) to the safety of the travel trlr in Maryland perhaps? We think that Shelly was ordered to remain in Florida, but if I recall correctly, Kelly Sims did file a request asking for permission for her to leave Florida… My point being that people will be looking for George Zimmerman, and not looking for George Zimmerman and wife, because they are divorcing… Out of sight and out of mind, when was the last you heard of either one of them???

          • In reality it wasn’t that quick. I remember watching it live on the tv and it went on for some time before MOM showed up. For awhile George was sitting in the back of the patrol car leading the news reports to say he was being arrested and then he got out of the car and stood for some time underneath a tree in a neighboring yard with the other woman.

I believe that the only reason that MOM showed up was to get in some more on air time with all the news agencies that had shown up. Another thing to remember is that all the news agencies got there well before he ever did.

Right away, Manalo, recognized that George Zimmerman had NO justifiable reason to shoot and kill Trayvon!

Even though Manalo had seen some blood on George, he did NOT see any justification for George to claim self defense!

    • Hi dreamer,

I don’t think Ofc. Smith was doing anything more that handcuffing George Zimmerman.

So let’s look at Manalo’s exact words to Joy Reid:

Manalo:MANALO: Um. It was something that I had never experienced before and seeing him laying there, and, it was basically just me and him until the first responders came along to try to revive him.

I was surprised that Manalo had time to be alone with Trayvon’s body at all.

Here is what we know as far as “first responders” —

Ofc.Ricardo Ayala was the next to arrive after Ofc. Timothy Smith. In his report Ofc. Ayala wrote that he was dispatched to RaTL at 7:17 pm. and that

Upon arrival Ofc. T.Smith had a white male, in custody.

Ofc. makes no note as to where Ofc. T. Smith was standing.

He then noticed that there was a black male face down on the ground and so he

attempted to get a response from the black male, but was met with negative results. At that time Sgt. Raimondo arrived and attempted to get a pulse on the black male but none was found.

Now, Ofc. Raimondo (the 3rd to arrive) wrote in his report that he was dispatched at approximately 7:20 and that

While enroute I heard Ofc. Smith communicate that he was in contact with a possible suspect AND an INJURED person.

On arrival at the complex, I asked Ofc. Smith if he was left or right from the entrance.

Ofc. Smith told me to go left.

After the first turn, I saw Ofc. Smith standing BETWEEN the buildings with a male.

I exited my car and went to Ofc. Smith. Ofc. Smith identified the person in is custody as the “shooter” and showed me a handgun.

As Ofc. Smith escorted the suspect male to his patrol car, I went to render aid to the injured male

Now, because Ofc. Raimondo was still in his patrol car when he first saw Ofc. Smith BETWEEN the buildings with gz, we have to assume that Ofc. and gz were standing on the T at that point and not on the dog walk.

No exact arrival times were noted in either Ofc. Ayala’s report or Ofc. Raimondo, and so if we wish to discover those times, we could go to the dispatcher log.

        • Yahtzee, Don’t forget this one little piece of information, Tim Smith arrived on the scene of the reported shooting, and per his own words, did not draw his gun until after he had begun to talk to Zimmerman at which time he drew his gun and placed the cuffs on Zimmerman. Tim Smith and his wife are two others that the DOJ need to take a real close look at due to their possible link to Zimmerman and their actions on the night of the shooting… The question is still unanswered as to who Zimmerman called after murdering Trayvon. Was one of those calls to Tim Smith? We can go over these things till the cows come home and still probably have no effect of the end result in this crime. IMO this case is now in the hands of a much harder hitting force than Zimmerman has ever had the opportunity to deal with, and that is “Karma”… Or as has been said many times before, what goes around, comes around (to bite you in the butt!). Zimmerman is living on borrowed time, tick, tick, tick….

Funny we haven’t heard a peep from those who had no problem making the media rounds before the trial, Fogens friends. Then again, I’d be embarresed to show my face knowing I’d been left looking like an asshole. Especially if your a true believer in Karma.

@2:01 Into his interview, she asks Manelo if he took the photo of Trayvon’s body and he obviously said yes. now,we know it was of Trayvon face down, but the interesting part was when he said he took it. he said he took it after George was brought away by the police.the problem with that is according to officAyala and Sgt Raimondo they got there when officer Smith still Had George at gunpoint and they immediately started performing CPR on Trayvon. They flipped his body over so how could of Manelo have taken the pic of his body lying face down unless he’s lying or they are lying about when they actually got there?or,they put him face down and staged that photo?

See, something seems off. I can’t imagine Manelo was left alone until someone else showed up, and yet Manelo has pictures while he states no one was there. If they were there, the police usually don’t let people walk around a crime scene.

The prosecution only asked wishing that would benefit George or questions that wouldn’t hurt him. Mark Osterman took part in chasing and apprehending Trayvon before George killed him. If you doubt that, then listen for yourself at 1:43 into LAUER’s call and right before the call is muted before her personal info is given, George yells out for Mark. I made videos that I have his name amplified really loud, but you can hear it without amplification. Jonathan Good is a liar as well and Jeremy Weinberg is talking to Amanda when he says there’s gunshots and when he says”he warned me he’d shoot him.” I am not incorrect in any of this. Search YouTube,”Dr Alan Reich was 100% correct.Trayvon Martin was murdered.”

There are a lot of Trayvon supporters but we are too spread out.we need to join forces.

After Zimmerman’s arrest, many people did join forces. Of the blogs that concentrated on the case, each blog administrator seem to concentrate on certain areas. For instance, Whonoze and his team concentrated on the clubhouse videos and the photos taken of Zimmerman.

Trent Sawyer, on his stateoftheinternet Youtube channel, was the first to catch that the clock was off on the clubhouse videos. (That was before it was revealed in discovery material.) He too produced some videos based on what he saw in the clubhouse videos. Unfortunately, before the end of Zimmerman’s trial, Trent made those videos private.

There are also several people on Youtube who brought forth background noises in Zimmerman’s NEN call and Jenna’s 911 call.

The subject of the M&I Bank video was discussed on blogs since the State released it. People discussed whether the last person seen on the video at 6:38 p.m. is Mark Osterman. Some think not. Some think that it is. It’s my opinion that it is Mark.

When the feds charge Zimmerman, they are not going to re-litigate the State’s case. It’s going to be a whole different ballgame.

My Facebook page is Jose Vqz.

Thanks for the info. I do not have a Facebook account but am sure that others who participate here do.

  23. I just finished transcribing Part 2 of the Joy Reid interview with Jonathan Manalo:

REID: Now, let’s go back and talk about your testimony. There were some other things that didn’t come up that you have since talked about. You have written a book, we should say that.that you’ve written and is available on Amazon.

    MANALO: Yes.

REID: And, in that, one of the stories you tell is about another interaction with a colleague of yours at UPS between him and George Zimmerman. Tell me a little about that.

MANALO: Um. It was about November.

REID: This is the November before the shooting? November of eleven.

MANALO: Before the shooting…3 or 4 months before the actual shooting. He was just…one of the biggest trucks that we have…..daylight….he knocks on the door so the driver can just leave it at the door….and he walks back to his truck.

When he turns around, George Zimmerman is just standing there with his gun in his hand, and then just says, “Oh, I didn’t know who it was.” But, clearly, there’s a big, brown truck in front of your house with a UPS logo on it…and you don’t know who it is. It kind of makes you wonder what his mind was thinking at that moment.

REID: And, was that incident reported to your supervisor?

    MANALO: Yes, it was.

REID: Okay. And, when did you learn about that incident?

MANALO: I learned about it a few weeks before the trial, um, so I didn’t really get a chance to elaborate on it, but, um, it was in the back of my mind.

REID: Now, why didn’t you mention that on the stand. I mean, you were asked at one point if you had know George Zimmerman before or had ever seen him before. At that point, why not say, “Well, I didn’t know him, but a colleague of mine at UPS had this interaction with him. That might have actually made a big impression on that jury.

MANALO: I understand, but, you know, it’s just one of those things in court ,or yeah, in trial, it’s it’s…What they ask you is they want a direct answer. So, they didn’t exactly ask me to elaborate on anything, his demeanor, if I …you know, it really didn’t get in depth of what actually what I had experienced.

REID: And, we should mention that the State Attorney’s Office said that they went back through your interviews with Mr. de Rionda, your interviews with police, and they say this never came up….that this incident was not reported to authorities before you actually testified.

Do you now wish that you had told the police or told the State Attorney Office about the UPS incident?

Manalo: Probably yeah. I mean, but like I said, there was just a few weeks before the trial happened and so much was going on that they were already pretty much busy with what they had going on with their witnesses and their depositions that I really….didn’t even dawn on me that it was something that I really should have tried to push on.

REID: What would you say to people who watch this interview and say, “Joe, why didn’t you say this at the time of the trial when it might have made a difference to the jury?” What would you say to those people?

MANALO: I wish I was given the opportunity to speak and elaborate on my experience from that moment instead of just being asked “Okay, was he bleeding?” or “What did you see when he (edit? you?) came around the corner?”

It was none of that. It was just basically…from the beginning, it seemed it was more of a self-defense issue in court than it was to see what led up to it.

REID: Do you feel that the prosecutors did all they could to convict George Zimmerman?

MANALO: I really don’t have a comment on that…um…I think everybody did a great job from the defense to the prosecutors..um..yeah.

REID: And, Shellie Zimmerman gave an interview recently in which she said she now doubts the verdict, that she has some doubts about whether her husband, who she is now in the process of divorcing, was guilty or innocent. What is your opinion on the guilt or innocence of George Zimmerman?

MANALO: I think he should have been guilty. Because, from the beginning where it was just negligence as far as him carrying a firearm when it really wasn’t necessary because in an area where it’s a safe neighborhood…in your mind, if you’re thinking, “Well, I got to make 40 calls to 911 whether it’s non-emergency or an emergency over frivolous stuff” …in your mind you’re thinking, “Okay, what’s a high crime area?” In that case, it wasn’t.

I hardly ever saw a cop in my neighborhood.

REID: What is your sort of “take away” of what happened in this case. Do you feel that justice was done?

MANALO: No, not at all. Not at all. It was…I think the jury should have seen more of what happened before it became self-defense. Because, before it became self-defense, there were so many issues came in where it could have been avoided.

But, when you…when someone is so aggressive in their mind that they want to make that citizen’s arrest, then it becomes an issue where it’s like…well, now he’s going to become negligent of what he’s actually doing.

Because, we all know you can follow someone, it’s not against the law. But, when it comes to the point where someone feels they have to defend themselves because they’re being followed, then that’s a different story.

He….Trayvon Martin can’t speak for himself, but he has every right to defend himself. Even though he’s not able to speak for it, and George Zimmerman can, so of course, they’re going to see him as the person who was defending himself.

REID: All right, Jonathan Manalo, thank you very much. And, we should point out that we did reach out to Mark O’Mara, the attorney George Zimmerman and his law office, and they had no comment.

    • @Yahtzee. Thank you so much for transcribing the interview. That’s work, and I so appreciate it.

Yeah, no comment because O’Mara knows Zimmerman is guilty.
