100-Foot Mural Titled “We are all Trayvon Martin”

Miami artist, Huong, has painted a 100-foot mural titled “We are all Trayvon Martin.”  It was unveiled in Tallahassee, the Capitol of Florida.

The mural depicts George Zimmerman shooting a figure in a hoodie.  Zimmerman is painted as he appeared to Trayvon Martin the evening of February 26, 2012, with shaven head, a mustache, and goatee.   The face portion of the figure in the hoodie is a mirror.  Anyone who looks into the mirror therefore, is Zimmerman’s target, and makes the point “we are all Trayvon Martin.”

Huong also painted a 50 foot version of the mural that can be written on.

Thanks to 3Chicspolitico for putting the video on Youtube.

  1. Not a flattering portrayal of Zimmerman. And yes, any one of us could have been Trayvon.

  2. @Mindyme62. Good morning! In closing arguments when O’Mara presented a photo to the jury saying, “This is the person my client saw that night” or something along those lines, I wanted the State during its rebuttal to show a blow-up of GZ at his first hearing in the grey jail uniform and say to the jury, “This is the man that the unarmed 17 year old ran from that night. He does not look like the person you see sitting at the defendant’s table now. The victim described him to witness Rachel Jeantel as a ‘creepy ass pervert.’ “

  3. A – Mazing !!!! Look at all the tributes to Trayvon & Justice. Look at the lack of any support for FogenPhoole other than race baiting hate mongers.

Hmmmmm ?? A week after he got away with murder, he faked up a hero scenario, 2 weeks ago the “I’m being picked on cop stop” was reported. What next…….isn’t it about overdue for more Fogen shit……what’s taking so long ??

    • @Yahtzee. IMO, some people, such as GZ’s supporters, have not or do not remember mankind’s history. By man’s nature, he always looks for someone to oppress, to victimize. Native Americans — Blacks. If no longer able to murder at will and get off, will the next group of people be Hispanics? Maybe women or specifically, natural blondes. Redheaded step children?

As long as there are people who want to be superior, and think that abuse, verbal and/or physical over others will make them superior, “we are all Trayvon Martin.”

That is so true and I don’t understand why it could ever make anyone feel better to think they are superior. Seems like it would be just the opposite.
When we think about it, I don’t care who it is, if it makes them feel better it would make anyone of us all feel better, BUT some can’t stand it.

        • @Lolypop. It might be jealousy, greed, or any one or a combination of other reasons. As the artists says, “We are equal.” Those who are bigoted should think about that when they need medical care, a blood transfusion, an organ transplant. They should also think about that in terms of death, which does not discriminate.

My first reaction to the mural was sorrow because of the Needless Murder of Trayvon.

Then, after studying it, I saw something far different. I saw the fate of every person that could have stood in Trayvons shoes that night. I actually got chills as I thought of that dark, rainy night, had it been me being followed by a perfect stranger for no reason.

A world wide understanding has been acknowledged because of Trayvons Murder. It is now widely understood that any of us can be considered “Prey”, should a vigilante, with a gun, decide we don’t belong in their neighborhood, or to be able to walk down the street without being followed and confronted. This has awakened the reality in all of us that our laws need to be changed, and accountability mandated, when a Murderer is not only able to immediately holster up after killing an unarmed teen, but the gun lords actually pay them to do it!

The Gut Wrenching pain and anguish we have watched Trayvons family suffer does nothing but make us more resolute in our stance for Justice. As the days tick by, more and more disingenuous comments by Taaffe, concerning race, and ZNuts antics concerning police scanners, and still needing to be a hero figure, say it all. Taaffe and ZNut will both wind up with another updated mug shot, it’s just a matter of time.

That says it for me. Pain is a motivator to resolve the cause, rather than a submission to it.
